What armor or clothing would you like to see in oblivion?

2. I've always found Robert's female body replacer a bit too mannish compared to HGEC/Exnem.

Maybe that's because you're used to all the überfem bodies that litter pornography and other fantasy. Robert's female body is a normal, average woman. I look very like that IRL, myself, and I've never been accused of appearing "mannish". In fact, I know quite a few women who would kill to look like that. Not everyone has hips that can compete with a horse or boobs that can compete with a cow, and not everyone actually appreciates those features on an otherwise, trim body. The EGEC/Exnem body meshes have some severe problems. It's one of the reasons our very own AlienSlof doesn't support them with her own mods and supports Robert's bodies (male and female) exclusively. I simply got tired of a reasonably good body plagued with stick-like arms and legs, and that's why I switched to Robert's female body for my female characters.

Maybe it's the angle I've looked at it in all the screenshots. The fact that the game engine limits modders to working with huge shoulders and hands doesn't seem to help, either.

For instance, I just looked at the author-uploaded screenshots for Ravenous Elegance. It doesn't look too butch from the front, but in profile, it looks a bit mannish to me.

HGEC does have options for cup size, body type, etc., if you wanted the muscular frame in it.

[...] Armor that actually looks like armor. I know. This is a fantasy game, [...]

I'm a tad sick of people posting revealing and then even more revealing outfits.

Whats the point ? I dont want to see my character run around in the nude, I want my character to look cool and/or kickass.

  • I'm friends with everyone. And I didn't think your comments were particularly snarky, but they did pretty accurately reflect my own feelings.

I don't use any Dremora race mods, so I haven't noticed any problem with texture seams. Perhaps that's something you need to inform AlienSlof of.

The problem with armor in Oblivion is that you can be wearing a G-string outfit and it still gives you the same "coverage" with respect to armor protection as full plate armor does. Now, if the game had such a thing as hit locations and ignored any part of armor that was fully transparent, I think you'd see less of those skimpy outfits. I just role-play it, myself. If I'm going into battle I'm going to be fully armored, or as least as armored as I can be. I expect my characters to do the same.

I fully agree about the Dark Brotherhood armor. In fact, my favorite armor is that which you get when you claim ownership of Deepscorn Hollow, but at higher levels in the game it starts to show its age badly. There's no reason that we shouldn't have light armor which not only looks functional but actually looks nice, too.

  • I checked out the Ravenous Elegance armor to see what you were talking about. Other than the fact that I don't think it looks like "armor" (it looks more like something someone might wear to BDSM play party) I don't see anything wrong with it. To me, it looks feminine enough from both the front and profile. On the other hand, I'm not a guy, so I tend to view the female form in a bit of a different perspective than guys do. As erotic clothing I happen to like Ravenous Elegance. It's just not the kind of thing I'd be tempted to wear on a venture into a cave full of bandits, necromancers, conjurers, or goblins.

No no no! I do not want the muscular female body from HGEC. I like my men muscular. I like my women average. The Robert's female body is, for me, pretty much the ideal female form. At my age I have to work out pretty hard to maintain that figure IRL, too, which is why I wish Oblivion would allow a range of body types to appear simultaneously in the game, but that's a rant for a different thread.

Different body types: That's one thing that really grinds my gears about Oblivion. Hence why I made that thread for that and other things that nag at us. :)

Skimpy armor vs. more practical wear: If it looks good, wear it.

For those of you looking for more protective armors, have you seen the non-sexy armor list?

http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/164060-non-sexy-armor/

Thanks for this! I'll have to have a proper look at these tomorrow, but I've bookmarked for now. Hopefully I can find some that behave with Robert's body mods.

1. More middle/lower class clothing.

2. Even more middle/lower class clothing.

3. More closed helmets.

4. Less pathetic light armor.

To be honest, I think that they Bethesda put a good amount of effort into clothing for people who like to keep it simple. As for armor, light armor looks WAY too light. I'm fine with heavy armor though.

What we need is more middle age based armors combined with some of the Monster Hunter Armors. So first, you dont have any special clothes, only some things like leather, chain or hunter. Than you get better armors like crusader, elven usw. and later (lv >16),you should get real heavy armors like full plate, paladin, or dark paladin armors,or better (stronger looking) elven armors, mithril and other armors which are really great, but they should fit in the theme (no russian, asia or futuristic armors!). And in the end (>25)you should get really bad ass armors like ultimate paladin armors, ultimate dark bad ass armors and of course Monster Hunter armors, they really look great, and there are easy and heavy armors (Rathian=easy,Lagiacrus=heavy usw.).The endarmors should be bigger than the char himself :-) .

And of course female players should have very strong, and special magical armors, but, of course, with HGEC :-). The hole system should be interesting but in the end,you should really think that youre char is super ultra mega awesome special strong. I mean, which char with level 40 wears..glass?! Dremora is cool for first but later it gets boring, and it isnt so big at all. (SRY FOR MY ENGLISH)

Actually there are a few armors that I came across that looked pretty well done and actually looked like they provide protection. Anyway one armor that I saw awhile ago and have noticed here that a few modders have made some warhammer clothing and armor. A couple I found that I would love to see in this game follows:

Something for archers/rangers just need a matching mask though saw a few here already.

Something for Elven Warriors. Female version looks similar to the male version in most reguards.
