Wraiven
Hm. I've tried both getting the manual version off of the FO3 nexus and copying my invalidation bsa from my FO3 folder, and I've changed the line as directed in FalloutPrefs.ini... no go. Custom textures still aren't working. Yeah having the same issue. Was working fine until about an hour ago with the new patch.

My fallout.ini was being rewritten by the default version every time I started FNV. The solution is:exit Steam (don't know if necessary, but I did anyway)make your Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini editsopen your FNV folder (with the FallouNV.exe)make the same edits to Fallout_default.ini that you did to Fallout.inisave Fallout_default.iniprofit. After this Archiveinvalidation Invalidated worked for me :D
RannXXV
Hm. Worked for some stuff for me, and not for other stuff.
alex_hart1986
Did you clear the line in both inis that makes it so they still depend on a archiveinvalidation.txt?
RannXXV
... No, I didn't know it was there, I just followed the sets of instructions I'd seen. I removed it now, though the mod I was having texture issues with already released an updated version that worked without it. Guess I'll... not know if it works since it will be working already! Custom textures still aren't working. Having the same problem here. What's happening is that Fallout New Vegas (or maybe Steam) is overwriting our edited .ini file with a backup copy! I've edited mine several times, and even when I turn the "read only" tag back on it just won't keep the changes. Every time I launch NV the .ini file changes are reversed. I thought the updates were supposed to fix this? I've cleared my Steam/Userdata folder out also, which used to work with the similar problem with the quicksave and autosave feature, but nothing I've tried yet has worked to fix this .ini bug. Any suggestions?
Fraktyl
Any suggestions? Edit the fallout_default.ini in the directory the game lives in. It'll be in the same place as the falloutNV.exe file. This seems to be the file that steam uses to overwrite the ones in your My Games directory.

Also, if you have mods ported from Fallout 3 that contain .BSA files, the best approach is to add those .bsa files to the Fallout _default.ini. I've just tested it with a recently released mod, when I did not have the .bsa entry in my Fallout_default.ini file, I had red exclamation marks where the modded stuff was supposed to appear in the game. It is definitely a step back compared to the convenience of Fallout 3, I hope the guys at Obsidian/Bethesda will sort out these issues.
