What happened to the community patch?

Bolded that last part for you. Gee sound familiar?

Yeah I know you guys are successful, biggest Fallout mod site yadda yadda yadda, I am really posting this for the benefit of the community.

no need to thank the people that did the work or even acknowledge that they even did anything right?

all that matters is that the "members of the community" you just gets what the **** they you wants when **** they you want it i guess.

i struck out "members of the community", simply because for the most part, they actually understand and appreciated the work us modders do

i really dont think you understand what the hell he was talking about.

How dare you lump us modders that provide original content FREELY for the benefit of the community in with those who would simply hoard creations for the sole purpose of monetary gain.

you have no ****ing idea what you are accusing us of by quoting Jefferson.. calling us greedy and selfish simply because we ask for credit for our work. your ideals on the matter are a ****ing joke.

seriously is it so ****ing hard to wait a day or so for the issue to be resolved?

Hahahah. Okay, simmer down now! You're getting so mad over this. There is no reason why we can't have a calm civil discussion about it.

I never called you greedy or selfish, I think credit should be given where credit is due. However, why is it that there is no attempt to facilitate a dialog between the creators and the maintainer?

And for that matter, if you edit a few values in GECK, who is to say that you are the "owner" of those edits? Was there any actual content creation at the heart of the matter?

i will agree to be civil of you agree to do a bit more research on Jefferson, his ideals, and his contributions to our current copyright laws, because really, his ideals and the meanings of his words do not really apply in the sense that you (and many others) mistakenly believe they do.

sure, you never called me (or other modders) selfish or greedy per se, but by calling The Nexus out on their cooperation with people who contest uploads because they feel that their works have been infringed upon, you implied it, specifically through your use of Jefferson's points on patents. (once again, do some more research.)

you assume there is no dialogue going on between the uploader, The Nexus, and the author who has contested the upload. any such dialog is conducted in private and really is between them and is not privy to the public. it shouldn't be. its really none of our business. if there is no dialogue going on, i would assume the uploader of the patch cannot smooth the issue over with the guy and he will just remove the offending content and re-release, or find someone else willing to provide a substitute. as unfortunate as this situation is, its obvious the uploader went to great lengths to provide an accurate listing of credits, and while i would find it hard to believe any fellow modder would be so callous as to continue to disallow the use of the mod once proper credit is given (if true ownership is confirmed that is), its not my call.

And for that matter, if you edit a few values in GECK, who is to say that you are the "owner" of those edits? Was there any actual content creation at the heart of the matter?

of course not. anything you do with The GECK is owned by Bethesda. but Bethesda didn't make the mod, "insert name here" made the mod and certainly should be credited for it. if the edits are that simple, your more than welcome to get into The GECK yourself, make all the same edits that are found in the community patch, use it, and re-release upload your work with your name on it.

So, are there any decent modding communities out there without such dumb policies and butthurt modders?

After reading this thread, I feel too dirty for getting some mods from this site.

Can you summarize what makes you feel this way?

That the nexus tries to please modders by ensuring they get credit and keep ownership of their work?

If we're talking about my own creations, I completely agree with you, but I can't shove my values onto others. You don't go into someone else's house and start moving the furniture around, do you?

My personal views are that this compilation should be allowed. Have we (as creators & users) gotten so petty that would complain about a few ups? This achievement point’s driven fanaticism is ridiculous. So someone went and complied your FIXES , which in all honesty could be fixed in the next official patch anyway, into one friendly file and THANKED every single one of you and I believe even provided the links to the originals.

You go on and on about my work this and ups that.

<Insert commonsense here>

It's pretty fecking obvious that he was not attempting to seal or copy anyone’s work as his own.

You can literally search any mod on this site and find two or three mods that will do the exact same thing, so why is that allowed? Why is no1 complaining about the ups they are losing there.

Now in fairness this is probably one poor achievement/ups prostitute rather than your genuine friendly modder who is out to better the community.

And yes if their chair is blocking a doorway I WILL MOVE THE FURNITURE, I'm kind of nice guy like that.

Find the nab who complained string him up for being a tard and move on.

I can't believe how short sighted some people are, if people aren't guaranteed control over their own work then less will share it in the first place and we'll all be worse off. I'm staggered by the selfish sense of entitlement shown by some on this site and on Beths boards.

There's a simple answer to that isn't there?

You've been here a year, you've not thanked anyone for anything you've downloaded, you've not given Kudos to anyone for sharing, you've not uploaded anything of your own, in fact your only contribution to this site has been one post where at the end you call a modder a "Tard". You've contributed nothing yet feel you have the right to tell others who have what they should do with their work.

If you can think you can do better, please feel free to go and create a site of your own. With your own rules and regulations. Come back in a year and let us know how you're getting on.

My personal views are

Exactly that, your views. Not other people's and not those of this site. until this matter is resolved by those involved directly the situation will not change and the file will remain offline on this site.

How about we skip the first part, and you take your own advice on the second part and shuffle out of this topic. Rude remarks and vague threats (meant as a joke or not) will get you nothing but shown the door.

Now, can we please keep this civil from now on or will this have to be closed?

I can see that some people got a bit butthurt, yet pride wars should not stand in the way of helping community as that is the main purpose(or so I hope) of this very site.

What you should have done is kept file open to public and kept discussion of who has bigger penis in the background. Outcome would be the same yet people would have benefit of being able to download file meanwhile.
