You wouldn't benefit in remotely any way. If your mods become successful and sell, 75% of all profit goes to valve. What's the point in that? Valve makes money off your hard worked mods? That means that modders will only put their work on Steam exclusively. There are those who would pay for exceptionally good mods but I think that the vast number of gamers will not just like they do not buy their games.
