Nexus Taboo?

You certainly are wasting your time explaining this to me, because I will never understand how you could be irresponsible in the first place that limiting discussion of a site on one particular forum is the only saving your kid from seeing rape mods.

The fact that you are the one worried about being unable to stop yourself from browsing LL with your 5-year-old looking over your shoulder is what strikes people as especially odd, I think. I mean, you're the one with the mouse.

i am pretty sure that he's using his situation as an example. remember lots of new modders dont know a thing about these sites, also sometimes people click on links by mistake. also some links dont even look like they go to certain sites.

Then he should choose a better example, one that actually has some value to the discussion.

"Look guys, I don't want my velociraptor to be browsing the Nexus and accidentally click a link to LL, because velociraptors are easily offended by human sexuality" is a stupid example of why something should be banned, because velociraptors are extinct.

Any site that bases its policy on what a five year old might click while their dad is taking a piss is wasting its efforts. Luckily, that isn't the case here. Dark0ne's reasons may seem petty to me, but they are personal and emotional and that at least makes sense. It's certainly his prerogative to ban mention of a site because the site just plain pisses him off. If I had a successful website I would probably be tempted to do the same if somebody slandered me. At least Dark0ne's perspective is understandable.

Ok wow.... You are just not getting it my friend. Let me just break this down for you ok...... I LILLYSDAD2009 DO NOT EVER GO ON NEAR OR USE LL FOR ANY PURPOSE.

THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE NO ISSUE WHATSOEVER.

And thank you qwertyzeldar, if I were to click a link without knowing that it was linked there. Porn would be everywhere or worse, LL's version of toddlers in tiaras. I am also clear on Dark0ne's reasons behind the blacklist. I simply stated my opinion of why, censorship is sometimes a good thing. My 5 year old is not on this site, or on the internet.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD CHECK WHERE LINKS GO BEFORE YOU CLICK THEM WHEN YOUR 5-YEAR-OLD IS LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER. THERE ARE OTHER SITES WITH PORN ON THEM, Y'KNOW.

Well all I can say is Lofgren your objection regarding the policy about LL is duly noted. Based on the many things brought up I seriously doubt that Robin is going to change his mind regarding the policy currently held. Again, as was noted...this is his site. He can do as he pleases. He is not preventing anyone from going to any site they wish. What he is preventing is the getting to that site from here.

You can dislike it as much as pleases you. You can claim hypocrisy, paranoia or just the Nexus being full of meanies. It matters not. Robin makes the decisions on these matters.

I really can't see why this thread needs to stay open beyond this time. I would suggest that you take your concerns regarding LL to Dark0ne directly if you are still so inclined.

Goodness me what a can of worms!

But let's cut to the chase.

It seems to me that there are two things happening here;

1. Objection over content of the Voldimort site.

2. Freedom of speech.

I sincerely think that we are all big enough to choose for ourselves what we want and don't want to see. I for one choose the nexus for my own reasons but am happy that by doing so, I am not confronted by a giant c#*k when browsing.

Secondly, I completely understand the right for people to express themselves. . However, there is a limit. You can can not walk down the road and suddenly decide it's okay to kill someone because you are a free spirit. In the same sense it is not okay to advocate rape.

I'm sure that the Voldimort site is more than the above... but I will never know. Ignorance is bliss.

P.s. There are people here who I know are posting with regard to option 2. Although I respect and commend you, don't pick on parenting. It's scary enough as it is.

Personally, I would not download anything from a site that screams "potential malware" as much as the "unnamed" one does, and I appreciate not allowing links to what I, and my AV, consider a "dangerous site".

Nothing to do with the content, and everything to do with site security and whose ads are allowed.

As far as the obligatory "ermagawd Free Speech" claims, well, this remains Dark0ne's house, and he can set the rules. Anyone can choose to live by them, or move on if they cannot.
