I have preferences these days for science fantasy, a careful mixture of science fiction and fantasy, but continue to enjoy scinece fiction and fantasy. I have less of a preference for horror.

I will post again and give examples of some of my preferences.

I love a story that is compeling and draws you in. I don't care what genre it is, the author must be a good at bringing characters to life and create a good atmosphere. So I'll pick all of the above.

I agree.

I have a thing for Science fantasy-worlds like WarHammer 40,000 blend classics swords n sorcery with the appeal of traditional scifi, but while this is all well and good, what really makes it enjoyable is it's shear depth, colour, and uniqueness.

well, what are you waiting for?!...

oh, my reasons... right, right...

well, i do enjoy all of them, provided, of course, that they are of high quality.

its like the difference between "moldy green" and "radioactive green", both are "green", but i, personally, prefer the radioactive one.

Science fiction easily. The stories told by Blade Runner, Star Wars, Solaris, etc. are for more entertaining than say Lord of The Rings. When it comes to fantasy I cannot relate to it at all, whereas with science fiction you can create disturbingly plausible realities and movies that examine the humane psyche (a la Blade Runner).

While I love well done fantasy, so much is either the swineherd / servingmaid is shown to be the pivot of history or the semi christian arthurian child born to to (semi divine) king.

Given the choice between that and the vistas of science fiction or science fantasy I'm afraid there is no choice.

Give me more Paul Kearney or Keren Gilfoyle and I will happily read them, give me some genuine alternatives and I will read them but for now it has to be sf.
