Madcat221
In a new decree sure to turn off a mod community already exasperated with a deficiency of modder support from the developers, mods (the unfortunate messengers of this decree) have stated BethSoft's new rule: We will no longer allow links to web sites or forums that contain or promote mature content. http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=642738 In effect, you cannot provide a link to a REL thread on the official forums that links to a DL site that also provides mods with adult content, regardless of whether or not your mod contains any. This effectively means all links to TESSource on the Official Forums are in violation, due to the fact that TESSource, probably the largest repository of TES4 mods, contains such mods with mature content. The repercussions of this decree are already taking effect, as the backlash was swift and expectedly inflamed. I'm sure that Dark0ne hasn't the time or the want to cleanse the multitudes of mods on his site or all the posts in the forum to comply with this unjust dictation to independent site admins on how to run their sites. atribecalledcha
sounds like a really mature reaction to me :D
Marxist ßastard
You know, reading threads in the official forums linked from here is a sort of guilty pleasure of mine. “What's so guilty about it,” you ask? Link being a shortened form of hyperlink, a very specific internet protocol function....It has a tendency to drop my IQ like a baby holding a bowling ball. That last hit took out the part of my brain responsible for clever similes, I think.
Dark0ne
I really don't think going through all 7,000 mods on the site and checking for mature content in images is worth my time. Serious thinking to do.
Switch
Well that's a pain and a half isn't it? Why do Bethesda have to keep shooting themselves in the foot? It's all just a PR stunt... probably orchestrated by that Pete Hines. It sounds like you almost won't be able to link to any mod website anywhere. It's just ridiculously impractical. Dark0ne
I've made a post regarding it on http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.p...2975&st=
Switch
Haha, well put. :D It's true that "mature content" is a very broad term to use. And I thought that bumping the rating to Mature was supposed to fix this whole problem. Now a Mature rated game cannot have mods with "mature content" in them for it, by Bethesda's decree. They're really making a lot of sense...
Tiberiu911
Silly Bethesda...Do they realise the impact this link restriction will cause...? Realeased mods will not be able to have links. The author will be forced to tell the downloaders to use the search engine on tessource. It will discourage many people from downloading anything. It might also cause a great number of people to migrate from TESF and link their mods here on TESS. Hey, new people to met! Yay.
StClair
These would be the same people who put a Dunmer wanting to know if there's a law against necrophilia, an innkeeper who "reserves her beds for seamen" (and can be seen sleeping with them) and a Khajiit whose rat-rant includes the forbidden p-word in their game? Oy.
