studentTwenty
I did no Adbock on the site for 3 years. I've been supportive in this regard - I ignored loud ads, I left things run, and I clicked on ads occasionally, interested or not, to support the site. And then I got directed to an obvious malware site. I didn't click on anything (I was actually away from my computer when the redirect happened), but the new tab/window popped up. Seriously, even if Bitdefender didn't spot it, I would have. It wasn't well hidden. Chrome itself though something might be up, and I didn't need the help - although many others probably did. Look, guys, I dig you're between a rock and a hard place. I know the site costs cash, and I know that since I'm not a paid subscriber, I have to endure ads. I'm actually down with that. I turn off my ad blocking for more than just this site. In fact, clicking on ads is the only real way I have to show support, so I do it. In fact, I relish in it. I know it isn't much, but it's a way I can show my support. But if your ad provider is going to engage in aggressive crap that directs me to what are (to an experienced web surfer) obvious ransomware sites, I have to draw the line. Not for me - I know what's what on the internet, and I can dodge this crap until the end of my life... but, from a moral standpoint, I can't support it. Please get your house in order. Change ad providers if you have to. Nexus has always been on the right side of this crap, and I've been as supportive as I can be.... but you lost the moral high ground recently, and I want you to have it back. I've recommended you in my reviews on Nerbacon.com, and I want to keep doing so. I'll leave my adblock off in the hopes that it was a one-time slip, and so I can send you more info if it happens again, but seriously, guys - be the good guys here. FTR, if you try to defend the practice, you're obviously part of the problem, and I'll take my ad revenue elsewhere (a pretty empty threat, but please understand both my frustration and my disappointment). I know everything here is provided out of the goodness of the hearts of the content creators, and I love that with all of my heart... but watch your step. I hate to say it this way, but it's a slippery slope.
DrakeTheDragon
The current ad provider, as far as I know, actually doesn't allow these either. But their customers sometimes abuse them as well and just slip these in without telling anybody. The usual deal is they get reported and the provider removes them from the rotation. As the ads you get shown are selected based on the region you're in, and perhaps also some other things, and the chance is rather minimal a member of staff or administration will ever get to see the same ad you see, they will require you to take screenshots of the malicious ad that's overstepping the line and add as much information to it as you can though, like the urls it's leading to, the region you're in, etc., everything that'll help identifying it, so Dark0ne can report it to the ad provider. bben46
Not only do we have a procedure for reporting these illegal ads and getting them removed, ( see Drake's post) We also have a way to never see another ad - ever on a Nexus site. For a one time donation of about US$2 (based on current exchange rate) you can become a supporter. (That is less than a Grande (mid sized) cup of coffee at Starbucks  ) And never see another ad. A portion of that is to offset the lost revenue from you not having to look at ads. But wait, there's MORE! (Does this sound like Billy Mays? ) you also get unlimited access to the supporter image share, AND an enlarged Private message box. Yes, this is an ad, but it is an ad to end ads. Do you know of any other site anywhere that does this? Direct link: http://www.nexusmods.com/games/users/supporter/? For anyone who doesn't know about Starbucks coffee - their small size is called Tall. Mid size ( about what you get as a normal coffee anywhere else) is called Grande, and a large ( what most places call tall) is Venti. And an extra large is called Trenta (whatever that means) If you just ask for coffee, without specifying, you get a Grande for about US $2.10 (these prices are general and your mileage my vary depending on location.) The "Venti", (Italian for "twenty") is called that because it's "20" fluid ounces. (I'll leave determining the amount of a "Trenta" as an exercise for the reader. )
Dark0ne
We're very much aware of this ad and it's been reported, with the help of lots of users providing some nice screenshot evidence, to the ad providers to be fixed.

Look, I get that it's unrelated, but to the outside observer this really looks like you're using threats of malware to scare people into being a supporter. whether that's true isn't for me to say, but that's what it would look like to someone that isn't aware that the moderators here aren't the scummy type. But yeah, I'm getting some of these too, redirects to an ad place called "um.simpli.fi" that's being blocked by my antivirus, as well as "i.simpli.fi" http://puu.sh/k5RiY/d99620d042.png This is what popped up when i disabled adblock(I enabled it for the time being, until this is all fixed, then i'll disable it again.) Upon googling it I learned it is at least relatively bad news. I live in Ireland by the way, in case that's relevant. I've been fiddling with my browser and A/V controls, trying to figure out why I couldn't see ads on the Nexus. 'Doh! Okay, time to go get myself another premium membership to show my support. Nonetheless, bben46 is so very correct. I can't think of another site that gives you such a great deal on "no ads anymore" than the Nexus.
