My thanks to all you brave souls who were willing to have their games trashed in order to test the functionality of this new version. I also give thanks to my gut instincts, which told me to ABORT!!! when I read that big red prompt during the installation process. I have @ 200 mods, and I am surely not as talented with the whole process as the majority of these poor dears who have posted their woes in this comment section. I sincerely hope you get these lumps ironed out and simplify this process, guys.

I also hope you will not decide to base all dependencies and further updates on a version that wreaks this much havoc. Otherwise, it will not bode well for the future of Skyrim mod collecting. :(

Best of luck, all my fellow Skyrim fans.

Skylarflare wrote: Thanks for breaking my game.
I updated from NMM's in-program update dialog so I had no warning until it was too late.
I tried to click cancel but nooo, that just closed NMM so I couldn't configure any more mods.
Thanks for pulling a Microsoft aka ruining something that was good.

But I'm not going to let this get me down, even though you destroyed hours worth of my time.
I'm going to take this opportunity to do a complete fresh instsall of Skyrim.

So thank you, but.. yeah I think you get the message.
Dark0ne wrote: There's a big warning in the installer. And once again when you've installed version 0.60 for the first time and have to choose whether to let NMM attempt to reinstall your mods, start from scratch or cancel the process. Cancelling then lets you roll back to 0.56.1 with no changes made at all.
hb877 wrote: Pushing cancel just forces NMM to exit, when you try to open NMM again the same message comes up asking if you want to reinstall your mods.
Dark0ne wrote: Yep, so you either click yes, no, or cancel and reinstall version 0.56.1 (or whatever previous version you were using). The cancel is there to give you one last chance to turn back before the change occurs.
hb877 wrote: okay, So all i have to do is reinstall NMM to the previous version and my mods will be fine? because I just keep pushing cancel I havent pushed yes or no yet.

If all you've done is clicked cancel, reinstall the last version of NMM you used, ensure you set the correct folders to the folders you used before (if it asks you) and EVERYTHING will be the same as it was before this update.

0.60.2 work fine by me, after the need for 0.60.1.

I know it sucks if your game is "broken", but get with the program.

This is a Beta software, its free, and they are working on it.

So please grow up, and file a proper bug-report.

I'm sure it will be fixed in time.

And do read the this release post, and the "Please read me-note" inside the installer.

You have tried to roll back to 0.56.1, as described on the wiki page??

why cant u abort the whole thing after u installed it? who the hell reads the read me of a new nmm version?
now it deinstalls all mods and i ahve plenty! some have to be instzalled in the right order to work, this will take hours to do and i adont have this time.
biggest fail ever, so angry right now...
Skylarflare wrote: I feel the same, like.. seriously?
This is the result of bad programming or their new "director" trying to take control.
I won't be playing Skyrim for a while due to how long it's going to take to fix this..
Same feels.
Dark0ne wrote: You can. Twice. Once during the installer phase where a warning, in BIG RED FONT informs you of the major change that this update brings and to read the site news and again, where you're actually told all your mods will be uninstalled by a prompt that informs you you can cancel without going ahead with the uninstall. Here it is again, for you to read where you messed up on that front. I've highlighted the relevant area:

This new version of NMM includes a major update to the way we store and install your mods which allows us to accommodate mod profiling (different profiles for different playthroughs of your game).

In order for it to work NMM needs to uninstall all your currently installed mods.

Choose option 'YES' if you would like NMM to attempt to try and reinstall all your currently installed mods using the new method. The migration procedure is a lengthy process and it could require several minutes or even hours depending on your PC speed and quantity and size of your currently installed mods. You may be required to interact with some scripted installers during the reinstall process.

Choose option 'NO' if you want NMM to uninstall all your mods and leave you to activate the ones you use again. (this doesn't delete your mods, it simply deactivates them)

Choose the 'CANCEL' option if you would like to cancel this setup and not proceed with this new version. You will not be upgraded to this version of NMM!

Dark0ne wrote: Look again.
pahapoika7 wrote: oh ffs even so if people want to update why force uninstall?
Dark0ne wrote: Have you read this news post? It explains exactly why:

Because this new version is a major change to the way NMM installs your mods it will require some interaction from you in order to get it working properly. The amount of interaction required will depend on how many mods you have installed, how many of those mods use scripted installers (the mods that have their own specialised installations where you can pick and choose what you want to install), and when you installed those mods that use scripted installers. If you installed any mods that use scripted installers after installing version 0.53.3 or higher (after February 23rd 2015) then you won't be asked to reinstall those mods again. However, if your setup is very old and uses a lot of scripted installers installed before February 23rd 2015 then you will be asked, one-by-one and in-turn, to install those mods again. Unfortunately, before this date, NMM was not coded to remember the exact settings you chose while using the scripted installers, so that's why you're prompted to reinstall them again.

I don't know if you're being serious and you're still blaming me for the fact you didn't read the warning that has the BIG RED FONT that everyone keeps asking for, which is already there, or whether that was a poorly timed joked?

I never blamed anyone, bc i read that it would uninstall or reinstall my mods, so i aborted it. I knew it reinstalling would usher in many problems. It does not warn that NMM attempting to reinstall all the mods, would create problems, and many people do not seem to know that it obviously will. Edited by hb877

Maybe NMM should do the same as TES5Edit and have a prompt that stops you with a small timer and greyed out confirmation button that forces you to take note of the warnings instead of blindly clicking "Accept" / "Yes". Edited by GothikaGeist

Hi,

is there somewhere a readme for the new update ?

After the whole uninstall/install process for the update was finished I realized that some of my mods where missing from the pluginlist although in the modlist they are still listed as installed.

With the old modmanager I had 117 mods installed in the pluginlist, after the update to 60.2 suddenly my pluginlist is down to 88. Some are missing. What is going on?

Do I have to install them again? And why are only some mods missing like immersive Armors?

Edit: Maybe NMM should note that users can uninstall their current "NMM Setup" (even when checking the "Remove User Preferences" box) and keep their mod list intact more prominently?

I was thinking exactly the same thing just now. Given the importance to understand that message, that timer should be at least 5 seconds, if not more. Edited by pStyl3

Just letting folks know we're winding down for the evening now as the programmers have family engagements to go to and I'm off out for dinner with friends. I'll be back to check up on this much later in the evening, but now that the US timezone is coming in to play, I expect to come back to some folks demanding help while we're out, which we can't offer until tomorrow now. Please continue to report bugs on the bug tracker linked in the news post and we will be on it, bright and early, to solve any issues that we can.

Lauranaw wrote: Where can i get a v 0.56.1 installer. And you know we can't uninstall and re-instal ours mods without troubles. Why this update (usless) and now ?

0.56.1 can be downloaded here.

Lots of mod setups will have installed without any hitch at all. So far we've had about 20-30 reports that the reinstall process hasn't worked to some degree, and thousands of people have installed this update already.

There was a bug in 0.60 and 0.60.1 that meant some scripted installers weren't working properly. It's since been patched in 0.60.2, so at least some of those reports will have come from the fact that bug existed.

We're hoping that, from 0.60.2, there'll be less issues with the reinstallation.

The "why now" was answered in the news post. Because we had no further bug reports from the 40,000 users of the alpha for a long time, and because we want to get this update out before FO4 hits, when everyone will be starting from a clean slate. So yes, it can take a little bit of time if you have a lot of mods already installed for other games, but it won't be tough for FO4 users. So it made sense to release it now, before another major game was released. Edited by Dark0ne
