I'm not going to close this yet, in the vain hope that you'll cool down, Peregrine. By cool down I mean don't call people morons, idiots, worthless sociopaths, or anything of the kind. If you continue I'll just remove your posts.

Lets consult the dictionary:

so·ci·o·path /ˈsoʊsiəˌpæθ, ˈsoʊʃi-/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[soh-see-uh-path, soh-shee-] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

–noun Psychiatry.

a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience.

Yep, I'd say the definition fits. It's not flaming if it's a true statement.

As for the others, I'm kind of amused that you consider insults to be worse than advocating child abuse and denying medical treatment out of irrational paranoia about doctors. Ever hear of this little thing called a "style over substance fallacy"?

Ever heard of giving me a migraine? Just read the damn rules and stick to them. It's not rocket science. The rules are the rules. Stating your opinion whatever it may be isn't flaming under the rules. Resorting to personal insults is. Debate over.

About the issue of whether it is right or wrong to hit your children for misbehaving, I also agree with everyone else that it isn't a solution any more than it is a problem. Some children, if they've been subjected to corporal punishment while growing up, may end up being violent, abusive psychopaths. This isn't necessarily verifiable, but it can happen.

-------------------------------------------------------

As for your personal story, it's just stupid. Lets look at the sequence of events:

1) You decided you have problems with anxiety and went to see a doctor.

2) The doctor listened to your story, decided it matched the known symptoms, and prescribed a drug that helps with anxiety.

3) You took it, and it probably resolved whatever minor problems you have.

Now, where is the mistake? The doctor did exactly what you asked him to! If you don't think the anxiety was enough of a problem to need medical treatment, why the hell did you ask a doctor for it?

1) I never "decided" to have anxiety, it just surfaced.

2) Sure yeah, "listened", but just because he listened, doesn't necessarily mean his judgement will be right.

3) I took them for three days, and I'm supposed to be taking thme until the end of March.

And I never even asked him to help me, he wanted to know where my hypertension might be coming from, because I'm also on Altace. I simply told him that a nurse said to me that she saw me as anxious, and never said I had an axiety disorder. And I'm not going to stop taking Altace just because my religious beliefs conflict with what my doctor tells me I should do. And besides, how did this ever surface, when the issue was about children in the first place?

Looks like everyone in this thread has partaken of a little bit too much sugar--- eh, α-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranose.

Not just suger, but volatile mixture of caffeine, coke, crank, a few uppers, and a slew of prescription stimulants in a neat little chemical cocktail. That's sure to make anyone go nutz for a month  !

You know what? I say it is. If you can find an actual definition of the word that contradicts my usage, then I'll just point out that one of the primary dietary sources of sugar --- high fructose corn syrup --- most certainly is.

I was going to go into a rant about that very additive, but as I havn't done the research, it seemed pointless and spammy. But you are very correct. But Yellow 5 isn't exactly safe, especially when it is in most processed foods... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tartrazine and http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dailys/01...301/cp00001.pdf

Then there's everyone's favorite Caffine, which is both addictive and harmful to your health (but hey, you can pull those 19 hour work days you need to live).

that --- it just looks like, you know, a list. Was the page blanked since then?

There probably isn't much evidence to what I am saying simply because cigarette companies aren't too willing to come out and say that they've been poisoning people for atleast the last 70 years. I don't have any sort of proof, but lack of all those chemicals (some of which cause cancer) can't be a bad thing. The problem is that there aren't many conclusive studies on natural cigarettes vs. normal cigarettes (and how could there be when cancer is what you're looking for?). Add that to the massive anti-smoking campaign, and the fact that people get flustered over any sort fo second hand smoke, and even if less hazardous, still doesn't change anything. Which is why I didn't go into detail.

Poopgoblin, please don't quote biblical texts here or speak of religious things... we're not anti-religion (I'm Christian myself) but it tends to do more harm than good due to certain posters reacting poorly, so it's banned in these forums.

Sorry dude, i just thought it was a good example of what i was trying to say. Is my sig still OK though?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on there, son  ! I never meant for you to take it the wrong way  ! I was only joking ;D ! I never actually meant you were doing those things!

But with the way the post has turned out, you'd think someone had dropped a fireball shot into a half a pint of Red Bull :D ... Or wait, that might make you extremely stupid...
