BennyGoodman
Hi folks, I'm very new to Nexus (Mod Manager) and have a question regarding the (virtual) installation of mods. I guess it's done with symlinking the mod files... However, what happens if I have installed several mods and steam installs an update for Fallout 4 - will the mods be overwritten? Has the Mod Manager a function to check the integrity of the installed mods? Hopefully someone here can help me with my question :)

Uolvayne
Why is there so many updates to NMM over the past few months? Pretty much every one involved having to spend hours finding a workaround or reinstalling mods in Skyrim, Fallout and every other game I've altered; is this really necessary? The latest update in Fallout 4 is that when I start up the game it appears to unselect all of my .esp files. And I then have to re-select all of them in NMM, close the Steam app and restart the game and Steam by just clicking the game start button and getting it to restart Steam. No idea why that works, but if anyone has a better solution I'd be glad to hear it. This stuff takes time away from gaming and ruins the fun; I haven't played Skyrim for a month because I know it will be a complete pain just to get it to run again. bben46
Why is there so many updates to NMM over the past few months?Because NMM is a BETA program, not a released ready to go program - BETA meas being tested so new features are being introduced and bugs fixed. Unfortunately, at this time there is no other viable mod manager (that I know of) with the capability of even this unfinished manager - although the Mod Organizer has a alpha (pre beta) version of their own up now for FO4 - alpha means not ready for general use. ONLY recommended for testing (MO is a Beth only manager that can only manage Bethsoft games using the Gambryo engine) Mod Organizer has a Skyrim version that is working though. The latest update in Fallout 4 is that when I start up the game it appears to unselect all of my .esp filesThis is something that Bethsoft did, not NMM. Bethsoft is not yet ready to allow mods, and have decided to not support them in the game at this time. One of those 'unnecessary ' updates to NMM is a way around this Beth limitation. Please read the forums to learn the several work arounds people have come up with. One thing that confuses a lot of people is that NMM is NOT just a Bethsoft only mod manager. It can support other games that are not made by Bethsoft as well. This means that some of those changes are not related to Beth games at all but to games made by other companies. To see what the change will affect, please read the change log that is included with each update. All mods and mod managers are use at your own risk and come with no guarantee of suitability or whether they will even work with your game at all. You pays your money and takes your chances - but in this case, at least on the Nexus, they are FREE so you don't even have to pay to take a chance when you use a mod.
