BigBizkit
Stoopid moders not mekin real swords. Skyrim doesn't take place in medieval times, nor in the 19th century, it takes place in a realm of fantasy. Naturally, liberties are taken. Real swords also don't go "shing" when they get drawn from a sheath, but it is cooler that way.

A sword made from the heart of the demon that looks real is boring. Not that real swords are boring, they limit fantasy. If I wanted realistic weapons, I would play mount and blade, or dark souls. Lachdonin
Sabres were predominantly used on horseback. You see any cavalry units in Skyrim? There was a variation of Sabre fighting common in the middle east in the 17th and 18th centuries which was designed to counter musket and rifle formations by getting in close and basically spinning around... But that's a very late approach. But Sabres are no more characteristics of 'Real Swords' than an Espada (a sort of Rapier) is. Swords are probably the single most diverse fighting tool ever designed by human beings, with only Firearms and Spears competing with them. Everything from the Egyptian Khopesh to the Italian Cinquedea are REAL swords.
Novem99
Skyrim doesn't take place in medieval times Okay. If you forget the dragon and magic stuff for a second: what would you say which of the ages of humanity resembles Skyrim at most?

FrankFamily
You quote the origins of sabers to support the idea that sabers existed in middle ages, but those origins are other curved swords like falchions: (I am definitely not a saber) if you want falchions in skyrim then it's ok, thats more medieval, but the images you posted are clearly not medieval. Then, yeah, skyrim is all magic and fake stuff, but if you have to put it in an age it's medieval. Scientist haven't invented magic yet so there's no age for it.Dragons as pictured in skyrim just don't exist and atronachs either... But, anyway, if you want more cavalry sabers in skyrim even if they don't really fit and for usable mounted combat you need a mod, then ask for them. I have no problem with that, but saying "modders are not making real swords because they don't do sabers" is utter nonsense. It's like you went to a museum, saw some real swords and somehow got the idea that those are the ONLY real swords, what?? Lachdonin
consider the game and settings they sure as hell knows about value of calvary, and horseback riders are as ancient as humans ever go to war. Yes, but they aren't common in Skyrim. Nords have never had a history of horsemanship. That's mostly Breton territory. Know what culture didn't make wide use of single edged curved weapons? Vikings! (they had them, but they were rather rare, and seemed more utilitarian for seaboard use than for actual combat). What are the Nords based off of? Vikings! You want Sabres, go talk to the Bretons.
