Fallout 4 patch coming out next week.

One of the most popular early mods, and the one that made Skyrim actually playable for me was SkyUI ( I had actually quit playing because the UI was so bad for PC use) Beth chose to completely ignore this with their new CONSOLE UI for the PC version of FO4 - Fortunately, I have not yet wasted the money to buy a game I would probably just put down after a few hours of struggling to play. I will wait until there is something like a SkyUI for FO4 before deciding whether to buy it at all.

Once again Beth has shown they make games for consoles and not for PCs.

I'd love it if the patch would allow keyboard and gamepad use at the same time.

Interesting. I use Xpadder to mod my 360 controller to have all the keyboard functionality I need, but there's one big drawback. I lost rumble. Also the pointer is not needed in most menus and gets in the way. While in 2 or 3 menus you need the pointer to switch between player and npc inventories. How would you use keyboard and gamepad compatibility?

With my lovely Steam Controller :D

Then I could choose which buttons should use gamepad-style functionality and which buttons should be assigned to the keyboard. It'd work well for 360 pad users too, with Xpadder or similar. Basically all enabling or disabling gamepad support would do is show or hide the cursor (except for the map, which would always show the cursor, of course).

I don't particularly care to use the keyboard for gaming because it is hard on my left hand and wrist. As an architect I aready use the keyboard in a non-conventional pose for my left hand to type in macros for Autocad so I had to find a way to reduce the stress on my left hand. For gaming I use a logitech g13 gameboard. It is much more comfortable to use for long gaming sessions and I am able to bind the in-game keystrokes to any key on the gameboard using the software provided by Logitech. I have separate profiles for all of my games. The downside is the shape of it is not left-handed friendly. I think Razor makes a keypad that can be reconfigured for left-handed gamers. It really sucks that Bethesda and some of the other game developers are so oblivious to the way many gamers need to have their keyboards set up - it borders on discrimination . . .

I am really tired of people chiming in and saying that left-handed people (or others who use different keyboard setups) need to learn to adapt. You may not realize that these people may have a disability or some other personal reason for not playing THIER game the way you do. This is a website dedicated to modding! We are all guilty of wanting to change things that we don't like/are broken in our games - that's why we're here. Someone will eventually come out with a mod that fixes the keyboard bindings if Bethesda does not. :)

So I looked it up and it seems there is no such thing as a legit left handed keyboard for gamers.

Is this true? Why razor or logitech are not making something like that? I thought those exists and are no brainer. This so odd. Doesn't seem that hard to make.

Just wondering, does the controller feel different too?

Perhaps the market for a left-handed gaming keyboard is so small that they don't consider it economicallly viable to produce them? Personally, I think the answer would be a modular, fully-configurable gaming keyboard. It would be of use for Southpaws, but also for the general gaming market, as well. Of course, it would also be expensive, but that's not necessarily an obstacle to the dedicated gamer. =0[.]o=

The keyboard layout is based on the idea of having to learn the layout. This harkens back to the days of the typewriter, where they realized that if you put the letters in alphabetical order the keys wore out to quickly because people were able to use it too efficiently.

You're only suppose to learn the layout after repeated use. It's not made for "right-handers" in the first place. It's not made for ANY handers. That's why left handed keyboards don't exist, because it's has nothing to do with your hand strength in the first place. All mirror imaging the keyboard would do is confuse people even more, because that's just a NEW set of scrambled letters they have learn.

And the arrow keys are very rarely used for gaming nowadays anyway, so the idea of making entire keyboards to move them to the other side is kind of silly.

They do, however, have mice that have buttons on the side, which could probably theoretically be used for movement and such.
