TimeLadyKatie
So, I'm considering a quest mod but don't know how modders are handling the voiced protagonist. Do you think the Creation Kit will have something for this? Or are we stuck working with what they say in game? Do we want to pool money and hire the VAs for a collection of mods? Only mostly kidding on that last one.
StrawHatPro
I've been wondering this myself. Bethesda encourages people to mod, but having a voice protagonist throughout the main game then have him saying nothing throughout the mod would seem a bit jarring. I'm guessing Bethesda is just going to leave it up to the community to find sound-a-likes.
Danneyo
Just take the sound thats already there. Hell, I'm sure it won't take too long for someone to make a phonetic library for both male and female characters.
Falconiano2
There are already ways of changing the MC's lines / removing them entirely, someone even made mods for that already on the Nexus.
DoctorKaizeld
Do you think the Creation Kit will have something for this?the Creation Kit only works for the Elder Scrolls games. the GECK though will probably have something but as already stated we dont need it to edit voices. either way with some sound work you could probably piece together existing words and sentences and make them sound alright. i think once someone steps up and re-voices the male and female roles they may also be willing to voice mods. for now we will have to live with silent quest mods. Danneyo
Why not just use stuff that's already there? There's a plethora of agree and deny dialogue for both characters, which would be more than suitable for conversations. The Sole Survivors story is contained in the main quests. So unless a mod changes or adds significantly to that, I don't see a problem.
jet4571
"the Creation Kit only works for the Elder Scrolls games. the GECK though will probably have something but as already stated we dont need it to edit voices." Seriously? They are the same thing, different names and odd that Todd Howard called the "GECK" for FO4 the Creation Kit when he said it will be released in early 2016, if Todd is calling it the Creation Kit then it is the CK until it is released and they chose a different name. We can call it The Construction Set for all it matters because it will just be an updated version of that just like FO3's GECK and Skyrim's CK was lol. OT: You can always edit together sentence's from others by cutting words out of one and into another until you have what you want him to say. That's a common way to make NPC's have dialogue if they use vanilla voices.
Boombro
Don't voice them.Jarring? Having a different voice is jarring. Plus, think about it. If 90% of mods that needs the PC are voiceless, that will sends them a strong message about what we think of it. For active-able items, you can add a pop-message script. They are very easy to learn and do.

The Skyrim CK is named after the GECK.
jet4571
The Skyrim CK is named after what Bethesda named their updated version of Gamebryo. Creation Engine, tool for Creation Engine is Creation Kit. GECK may have been an influence or it may be coincidental but it wasn't directly named after, most likely unifying the tools name for the engine and what influence GECK had was Creation Kit sounds better than Construction Set and Creation Engine sounded cool, My point was though they are all updated versions of Morrowind and Oblivions tools and FO3 and FO4's are not anything special compared to what is used for TES.
