lvhoang
Hi guys, So I got this alien blaster... I thought it would be beastly but I see it does roughly 50 damage per shot. So what makes it so special? I mean the gauss gun or the double shot plasma rifle do pack much more lunch. Did I miss something, or does its power lie in the fact that it is a low damage/shot but high rate of fire kind of weapon?
Boombro
It a pistol. Enough said.To be clear, it the best pistol. But not the best gun.
Vagrant0
It's a fairly high damage pistol that you can get early into the game, and convert it to use one of the most plentiful ammo types mid-way through. That's kinda the big thing right there. Not everything unique in a game has to be designed to be the best at endgame.

The ammo is still rare, but it comes with a lot of ammo this time. I can't really think of a reason to use it over a legendary .44/silenced 10mm when comparing it to other pistols though. I never had a use for it from the moment I found it, which was kind of disappointing. I guess I can always buff it with FO4Edit though.
Warmaker01
I don't have the weapon ingame yet. But do keep in mind your Perks will play a factor. If it's a Semi-auto Pistol you don't have Gunslinger, the damage is going to look like crap.
AceGoober
We must also realize that the Alien Blaster's effectiveness is dependent upon character perks, as well. Without the associated perks the Alien Blaster holds its own. With the associated perks it wreck just about any NPC you aim it at.
jet4571
Does it really need to be the best weapon available? Or could it be a fun weapon to have? I prefer the second option, fun trumps best.
greentea101
I found the Blaster to be redundant and somewhat underpowered at high levels, but very useful earlier in the game (before level 40 or so). I mainly used it in conjunction with Psycho Jet to kill tough enemies; the decent damage and the large magazine and high rate of fire made it perfect for that. I play on survival difficulty though, not sure how useful or needed it is on lower difficulties.
TheOriginalEvilD
I have all the pistol related perks and I'd still take Deliverer over it any day. It definitely doesn't feel as powerful as it did in FO3 (but then the .44's don't feel as powerful as Blackhawk did in FO3 either, even though one of mine is doing around 180 damage).
