FO4 is never going to satisfy everyone, especially where immersion is concerned

Really, nobody and nothing ever is going to satisfy EVERYONE. Even if you gave out the best Belgian or Swiss chocolates, someone would go, "nah, it's too sweet for me." Tastes are fundamentally subjective, and basically there's a reason why there are so many genres and subgenres. If there were one type of game that satisfies everyone, we'd have figured it out by now, and everyone would be doing clones of that one.

Fusion Cores for Power Armors.

Yes, I KNOW they have to be taken as a gameplay mechanic, but let's consider them from a lore perspective :
How comes you can still find so much of them 200 years after the Great War ? Shouldn't this kind of resource be EXTREMELY scarce ?
Where do they come from ? Are they still being manufactured ? If so, where ? And wouldn't they be a great energy source instead of those scavenged generators ?

So many questions since I first stumbled upon one, and even more after I realised how many merchants were selling them...

Aye, the cores break the previous lore in a major way. It's not even just realism, it's actually breaking existing lore.

BUT, as usual, mods to the rescue. If that bothers you, there is already at least one mod which lets you tweak exactly how much they get used up, including not at all. So you just need to pop in one core to activate the frame, and after that it will last for ever. There, lore problem solved.

Well human's left to their own devices may crawl out of a hole in 200 years....throw in Radscorpions, super mutants (who are far more powreful then humans), Ghouls, giant bloat flies...and death claws....mosquitos the size of a dog and crap tons of radiation and of course...your fellow man fighting you. It's a leap....

The closest thing we can really relate this loss of technology too is the fall of Rome. They invented concrete and the art of it wasn't really rediscovered for quite some time after their fall. Infact the fall of Rome into the middle ages was a huge loss of technology and science. It took ages to crawl out of the dark ages. It isn't such a leap given many of the hurtles named above to stop progress. I mean hell.....many people don't even have enough food an fresh water to survive. In a world with all these threats and a lack of proper nutrition the slow climb out of chaos isn't so easy. Could YOU at this very moment tell me how to make an actual functioning bow and arrow with out using the internet to tell you how? Could you tell me the chemestry needed to make new and proper setting concrete? Most people don't know how to do this stuff....re-inventing stuff isn't so simple when you have no formal edjucation...and your youth is simply "Don't get eaten by deathclaws, farm, and how to avoid raiders"

@boombro what i mean is,

my understanding was that oil/petrol etc had all dried up thus starting the resource wars?

Yup, but you can find leftovers, MR.handy fuels, oil cans etc.

Maybe oil drought was talking about oil mines/spring/pools? (what are they called in English again?) and taking them over?
