Vault Girl Mod Development Thread

Here's a quick and dirty hair recolor from the SVG previously uploaded. Can't make it completely black as that would blend it with the outlines.

I understand that the originals were done in vector, then converted to PNG, then traced? If you have the original vectors, I could try some coloring on them, would be more accurate than using traced PNGs.

The mod looks cool, btw, I will try the test SWF tonight.

Hey man. If you want to help out with making hair colors that would be cool. I may end up redoing the agility icon and doing all of the special, and vanilla vault girl icons as vector files which may take quite a while. Once I have some colored and outlined and animated vector versions of the special icons I'll post about it and help with doing other hair colors is appreciated. I wouldn't recommend working with retraces of low resolution images, I have nice high-resolution vector graphics that will look much better after I give them an outline and color. I'll be looking into how to use sothink, and some other things. Also working on a different project that isn't modding related so that will be taking up some of my time.

Yeah I think that looks about right  the gloss looks great! Also I'm thinking the bra texture can be the new sexy version. Looks great man!

Also when taking screenshots for the mod page I suggest taking them somewhere with bright lighting. Like maybe even outside.

yeah  need to create a display case outside but each time i m to lazy to do it

will continue the big head version and will take some better screen (that always been my weak spot :pinch: like to make mod but don't to make description and good screen)

Yeah I can do recolors of the graphics, just let me know. I tried the replacement SWF for the perk chart last night and I could definitely tell it was bitmapped and not vector graphics for the agility perk. But that may not be as noticeable to someone else, but my eye is trained to see that kind of thing. I believe vector would be smaller as well, file-size, than bitmaps, not sure how SWF saves stuff like that. Running at different screen resolutions may make it more or less noticeable as well, as it won't scale like vector would.

I did get the green square bug once though. After leveling up (not agility, don't need anything there right now, picked local leader) I closed the perk chart then went back to the game. I meant to turn on my flash light but didn't hold down the button long enough and the perk chart came back up, which is weird, it didn't show the pipboy first, just went right to the perk chart, and the agility icon was the green square. Probably due to the transparency of the bitmap not being loaded properly or something.

I'm going to assume the loading glitch that causes the green squares is because the png files are too big and that vectors will be the way to go when I work on the perk chart more. Still need to work on the condition animations, and some other things.

That's pretty cool! Why the decision to not use the vanilla vault girl?

This is the follow up to my older mods that use a similar a Vault Girl, and I like this look.

I have been told by good sources that a Vanilla Vault Girl Interface Overhaul is already in the works.

Also I may provide an option at some point that has hair similar to the vanilla vault girl. We'll see tho.

I can confirm a vanilla vault girl interface is in the works.
