CaarosKingOfChaos
I think robotics would be a good idea. Thanks for the help!
TheGreenLion
You might want to take a look at PeterChin's mod Grenades Syringer Rifles and Ammo plus Chemistry Pack, has a lot more interesting options to choose from to play a supportive character! I'm not sure I plan on doing anything else with mine, I was trying to figure out how to revive companions with it but I think I'd have to wait for GECK maybe to make sense of it all.
oldspice2625
Lol honestly I don't think you can really play like that and be anywhere near efficient. I don't think this game is built for that kind of thing to be blunt. They want you to shoot shoot shoot those raiders with all sorts of kill sticks :P. Maybe mods will allow multiple followers or something. The AI in this game for followers is such utter s#*! that you'd be lucky for them to kill things for you in an efficient manner on survival. And most perks that you'd take will be taken anyways on a regular playthrough (Crafting, Hacker, Lockpicking, Medic, some of the CHR perks maybe) so you wouldn't be totally original. It'd be mostly how you specifically play. It's a novel concept, but FO4 is kind of piss poor in delivering that kind of gameplay. CAN you THEORETICALLY do it? Yes. Is it intuitive? HELL NO. There's no benefit to completing the mostly linear, shoot them dead and return from fetching something quests that are in this game, unlike FONV where it'd make sense to make a smooth talking CHR based character that lets the followers do the killing. This game took all of those steps back, and you can't really RP or have specific builds like you used to be able to, since Bethesda loves making you into a god by endgame. All of the modern fallouts have this going on for them, even NV with the expansion packs.

Maybe mods will allow multiple followers or something. The AI in this game for followers is such utter s*** that you'd be lucky for them to kill things for you in an efficient manner on survivalYou right! Use this, everyone should use the better AI one http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2037/? tomomi1922
I wonder if it is possible to even play a support role here. I am comparing this to one of my recent games such as Mass Effect. You can tell companions where to stand but not specify a target to them, they still do a great deal of work when we control their special ability usage (their ability fires instantly almost the same as player ability). In Mass Effect, weapons do a great deal of damage that it's impossible to survive without hiding behind something as cover (except for 1 class). But FO4 .... our companions are ridiculous. I even have Strong using minigun, a great too many times I wonder "Where the heck are you Strong?" when I was left totally on my own to fend off barrage of enemies. Or to say "Strong, why don't you charge in minigun blazing because that room has full of all raiders and they have nowhere to hide". But things dont quite work that way. If 200% efforts represent 2 people's effort, then the player probably does 150% of the work most of the time. In other cases where we encounter heavy resistance, like enemies with missile launcher or some sort, our companions will fall rather quickly and we are left to do most of the work again. So .... for a support role, there is not a whole lot of support to give. Maybe you can grab a Legendary mod that allows crafting legendary effect, there is this effect that heals target instead of hurting. Use this to heal your companions and let them do the killing. However, I want you to consider this: For intent of roleplay or makingbetter use of the perk system, this youtube producer clearly define very distinctive build for different implied classes. Here is the "scientist". He uses science as his core competency to get things done early on. The channel also offers a few things like Sniper build, Raider build (almost pure melee), and so on. CaarosKingOfChaos
I found a mod that would be perfect for the Engineer, http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8838/? Also, tomomi1922, I am fully aware of Fudgemuppet, and I have been hoping he would make something like the build we are looking for.
