Conspiracy Theorists?

Yes you might call me that indeed. But i bother to think and look before just believing whatever information is thrown at me. It is up to you to follow blindly who you believe in. good for you you are having a laugh here Aurelius as i fail to see what is amusing.

Never said I was laughing but did say I was amused..wryly amused. If you do not see the humor then thats your prerogative.

Sorry to double post, but I did not want there to be any confusion over which part of my post was a staff post, and which one was a personal one.

The warning about the arguments getting personal was a staff message, and that message ended with that post. This is the personal post, and this one is open to commentary.

Ok, this is my personal opinion, but considering the amount of people that are at the site of the 911 attack, the amount of people that are there celebrating. And the amount of people that had friends and relatives that died because of that attack... I personally find it a relief to them, that this man is now gone.

That while it won't bring those people back, that it may serve as a bit of justice to them, to help them come to terms a bit more, with the loss that the man caused.

As for cover-up conspiracies......

I do think, that there's parts of this, that the government is holding back. Why? 1) We did not have authorization from the government of that country to perform the raid. It was completely black ops. They supposedly didnt even know that we were going to do it, until we did it.

2) While there is not an concrete evidence to support it, many feel (including myself) that this was not an operation in which they were going to take him as a prisoner. I think, and this is only OPINION, that this raid was to Take Him Out.

That opinion, combined with 1) is not an action that the gov't is going to want made highly public. Obvious reasons there.

3) The reports say that he died fighting. I think not. Channel 5 news reported he died of a gunshot to the head and to the chest. What is SOP for the effective kill? One to the chest, one to the head.

I think, and again, this is ONLY opinion, is that he was killed directly, to avoid any trials, any problems with who gets to try him and where, and chances of his escape. Take him down, and take him down NOW.

As for mutilation of the body.... Well... all said, IF it DID happen... I honestly wouldn't blame the people responsible for it. There was a lot of hatred for this man. And it was deserved.

Tho I think more to it, that it was to deny his followers the chance to put up a shrine over his body. To deny them access to him post mortem. This guy was their icon. They're terrorists. I think that this was a large part of why he was dumped at sea.

Second is that yes.... he's now in an unmarked grave, where he's just another piece of garbage resting at the ocean floor. I like that imagery. Let him rest at the bottom with the rest of the bottom feeders. If that's what he was in life, let him be so in death.

And, to be honest... I just absolutely love the way that my GF puts it. They Flushed him. Down the toilet like any other piece of drek swimming around in the toilet.

I'm glad to have heard about this piece of news. I think that we really did, finally get him. And I'm glad of it.

Tho I do share concerns about retaliations. And concerns about the next to replace him may be worse than what we just got rid of.

Tho I also hope that this will piss them off enough that they will get stupid, and more of them will get caught.

Well, like I said I think people should calm their enthusiasm a bit. Yes, osama is dead, but what now? think about the consequences this may have. Bin laden was as much a figurehead as anythign else, rather than a fieldcommander, that much is obvious since he was nowhere near the front line and had no machinery present for giving orders. This is unlikely to even slow al quaeda down.

What I find much more disturbing is that America is starting to sound as extremist as the many shariah islam extremist groups it is fighting. I am frankly disgusted by some of the reactions people are having to this. A man is dead certainly, and a man who had in all fairness, forfeited his life through crimes against humanity, however, the celebrations of his assasination are just getting out of hand. Stomping down the streets baying USA! USA! is just embarrising, but it's the hard-liners that have me worried.

America is facing a potentialy genocidal enemy. This enemy doesnt distinguish between civilian and military, does not take prisoners, and sees the world only in black and white. It would gladly nuke a whole country to kill and single man, and more and more, this same description fits the united states. The USA needs to be careful, it's on the knife edge of becoming worse than it's enemies. I again remind you of nuremberg, and why we held the surviving nazi conspirators to trial, rather than simply shooting them: to prove we are not butchers like them.

I heard a man today suggest a tactical neuclear strike upon the Swat valley-this is precisely what Im talking about, there's about ten thousand militants in Swat, however, compare that to about a million or more civilians, civilians that have only suffured from the militants, who conduct frequent, brutal raids to enforce their "laws" upon the townsfolk. When I mentioned this, ands that Swat sits in nuetral Pakistani territory, he replied "so what, they're all muslims" Watch what you believe, what you say, and dont let yourself turn into the sort of hate driven monster I've been seeing all too often lately, or you'll be making yourself as vile a person as the taliban, this is a reminder of your humanity and morality: listen to it.

So, relating to the topic (and to lighten the mood a bit), I figured that I would stick this here (the Debate thread didn't quite seem right... )

Well, I heard that when the news broke he was dead, Bush Jr said "wait, I coulda sent seals?"

Some of the humor to come out of this has been great, especialy the many political jokes. I saw one this morning with a pic of Obama and the caption "sorry it took me so long to show you my BC, I was chasing binladen!" Many(comedians) now are suggesting that with bin laden down, Waldo shall be SEAL team six's next target to find. I would however say that I bet Codemasters are happy, Flashpoint: Red River incudes a bin laden cameo, and involves missions rooting insurgents out of compounds(admitedly as a Marine) They could market it pretty hard right now, with all this crowing going on.
