Block User From Files via PM

Is there a way to block a user from your files having only received PMs from them?

There's a link on comments on your mod to block the commenting user from that file/all files, and there's a block management page that lets you remove a block, but I can't see any other way to block a user.

Could you add a way to block someone without them having commented on one of your mods?

This has been discussed and so far, Dark0ne does not feel it is fair to have the right to block someone that has not done something in your files. If a member is causing you issues via another means then you should report this to the staff and let them handle it.

So what if you commented something normal and/or gratuitously and you still get blocked, is their a way to report wrongful blocking or abuse of the system? This just happened recently to me, and I have no damn clue why i am blocked from a mod authors files page and I'm trying to contact them to get it reversed or at least have them show what the "problem" is.

"wrongful" is purely contextual. If you post something on a forum, remember the context you apply to your words may not be clear and people will add their own context to the same words and come up with a completely different meaning.

Sometimes, it's simply better to say nothing.

I could see that being abused.

For instance, someone says something in a discussion thread on the forum you don't like, so you block them because they have a different political opinion from you?

Which is EXACTLY what your request sounds like, you wanting to "pre-block" someone from your mod based on what you've seen them say in the forums etc.

Why else would you want to block someone who hasn't even commented on your mod?

People with different political opinions are already quite capable of leaving comments on your mods and getting blocked for it. Only being able to block those who leave comments on your mod doesn't prevent such "abuse" as you call it.

Why else would you want to block someone who hasn't even commented on your mod?

Maybe they've trashtalked you on some other platform? Maybe they've anonymously reported your mod with a frivolous complaint because they hate your guts. Maybe they kicked your dog.

What does it matter really?

There's a million ways people can screw with you to the point that you'd refuse to let them benefit/take advantage of your modding work. I've yet to see the real argument as to why the ability to block someone should be restricted to only those who'd left comments on your mods. Nor how it benefits the modding community to make modders feel like they're being taken advantage of by some people with no solution other than to "take their ball and go home".

The answer to your question is in Lisnpuppy's post, about 5 posts up on this same page.
