Articles Section GONE?

The article section will be gone with the site redesign. It'll be a month or more yet, but still, it won't be making a return past that.

Well really it wouldn't take TOO long to quickly copy and paste each of them into a notepad txt

But you'd have to have a good few hours free time to do it.

I'd do it myself if I wasn't trying to make my Star Trek mod :/

 

I guess I'll think about it, unless someone has other plans.

 

 

And yeah LH it would be good if that were possible, but most people have just forgot about their articles.

Or just haven't visited the nexus in a while :/

There are a lot of tutorials but quite a few have been converted to the wiki.

 

This, like any large project requires taking small steps. Enough small steps and it will eventually become completed. Kind of like the question of how do you eat an entire elephant?

 

Are there any volunteers that would be willing to take a small chunk of the tutorials and convert them? Like 5 or so?

 

I would be willing to coordinate the effort and purge any articles that have been converted to avoid double-work.

 

If I go through and delete the ones I have already converted, that should cut the TES articles down by 60 or so. I only left them there since I have tons of links in the forums that point to them...which in turn point to the wiki. However, those old posts will have to eventually die (contain broken links)

Shouldn't take more than a month to fix this :D. An article ranges from 10 minutes to 1,5/2 hours to convert. (depending on the adjustments/improvements)

 

Do you have some place(new topic?) in mind to coordinate it at?

PS - TES articles just now reduced from 195 total down to 142. :)

 

Keep in mind that this conversion should be restricted to JUST conversion...not improvements. However, if authors are converting their own to wiki and want to update, feel free....however, the conversion "team" should focus on pure conversion to reduce delays in converting it. When I started converting mine, I got tied up into an almost non-moving pace when I started trying to update and improve on all the info. Rather than re-design, I tried to stay focused on just converting...which allowed me to do it MUCH faster.

I just meant it on the style/formatting level :). That can take quite some bit, although the wiki allows some more..bbcode is easier/quicker :P.

Once you get the hang of it, it goes a lot faster. But at the start it can take a few bits to figure out how to convert things that seem simple things to the eye at first.

I'll copy pasta mine back onto my hdd... For the moment that is all I can do. I am sure in doing so I will make some amendments. So I would at least feel a little better in reupping them when there is time.

 

I think the material controller tutorial would be the one that is more or less ready for wikification. I think some of my other ones use external images which I would like to reup here... iirc I ran into the 5 image maximum daily up load limit on at least 1 of them. I might have even retro fixed that already though. lol can't even remember that. :psyduck:

All of my articles are backed up (nothing new here) and the back up is backed up. They are also posted on 2 other obscure sites And drop box where I can find them if my current computer melts down.
