LHammonds
I have not followed the original game nor the 2nd release. My nephew gave me some of his games a few months ago and the 1st Witcher was one of them. However, I never checked it out or installed it. It still sits beside my desk. Now that there is a Nexus site for it, my interest in the game and the company was elevated. A recent opportunity allowed me to spend $65 at Best Buy and after a little digging around, I saw The Witcher 2 near the top of the metacritic listing. That and the fact a Nexus was released for it and it was a single-player RPG was enough for me to select it as my primary purchase (Bad Company 2 was my 2nd since I love Battlefield games). I placed the order for both games late Friday night (6/3/2011). I just got the email confirmation that it is "Enroute to Destination Processing Center" and due to arrive on June 14th. It is a little after but I will consider that my birthday gift. I also saw the news articles talking about how patch 1.1 removed the DRM protection scheme because they think the DRM did what it was intended to do and is no longer needed. I thought that was just awesome. The article in regards to the 1.2 patch mentioned including all previously released DLCs which made me scratch my head and wonder if they were originally free or were included based on where you bought it or whatnot. Still not 100% sure on this but needless to say, I'm impressed...especially with the changes they made in the game which featured change request feedback by the community. That is just all kinds of awesome and I'm so glad I spent some cash to support this awesome game developer...all this an I haven't even played the game yet!!! I know nothing about modding the games but if I can use Blender and get some of my weapons released for the 2nd game, that would be fun...and I'd probably make a few tutorials along the way too. ;) So basically, it looks like a cool game as well as a cool developer and I look forward to trying it out. EDIT: The Witcher set I have is the Enhanced Edition. Cool! LHammonds
Dark0ne
Yeah, if you thought that stuff was cool read up on the Enhanced Edition and why they released it (for free) to all their Witcher customers  That was cool!
JimboUK
There is a further 1.5 patch for the enhanced edition, be sure to grab that.
CDPREDteam
The DLCs included in patch 1.2 are the Troll Trouble side quest, the opportunity to give Geralt 5 additional hairstyles by visiting certain NPCs, and 6 DLCs that were originally pre-order bonuses. Please note that the alchemist, mage and swordsman DLCs, which are often referred to as "suits" are probably better thought of as "packs" since they contain helpful items but not full sets of clothing. The alchemist one has gloves, the mage on has trousers, and the swordsman one has no clothing.
LHammonds
The 1.5 patch is REQUIRED in order to play on Windows 7...otherwise it blows up saying it needs admin rights. I am well into Chapter 1 and I can say that I'm not a fan of the combat system. To many times I am sitting their holding my weapon up high with my mouse button pressed down and holding....just waiting for him to attack only to find out I apparently missed the window of opportunity because of an advance animation, teleportation animation or some other oddity that prevents an attack at that split second. Other times I find myself actually getting to start the attack but released the button thinking I did not make the timing and then finding out I was "about" to attack and cancelled it out...thus back to doing nothing again until I can get the attack timing started again. :wallbash: I do see how they tried to make the system diverse with the signs and potions but I just couldn't get over the clunkiness of the click combat. The English voices seem good to me and did not make me roll my eyes yet...however, I am pretty forgiving when it comes to that stuff. I did notice that the included game guide and map looked like they were in mint condition and unused. To me, that was a good sign my nephew didn't really need them. The forced paths using fences in combination of having to run back and forth from one location to another and back again was boring me so much that I was actually falling asleep heading towards my objective...waking up having gone past it and running on a fence, then turning around, heading back to the objective, falling asleep and running past. It was quite comical and I just saved, quit and headed to bed. LHammonds
Raye
Yeah, the first game is a kind of a 'diamond in the rough' situation. You can see what they WANTED to do, and it's great, but can tell where they either bumped into the limitations of the Aurora engine, or were simply a bit new at this... but it shows a lot of promise. The second game fixes a lot of gripes you are talking about here. better combat, more logical boundaries, better pacing, less running back and forth etc.
JimboUK
The first game is a very slow starter, it does get a lot better but takes its time in doing so. I would imagine a lot of people gave up before it really gets going, the slow start has put me off starting a new game on more than one occasion. LHammonds
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to stick with it until I finish the game. I really want to start #2 with the character I built in #1...or at least pretend he's the same guy. I know the decisions he makes only impacts some useless dialog in #2 and you get some nice equipment in the beginning but that's about it (as far as I know)
swordsman5
Huh?? You mean it's possible to "import" your character from the first game? I should point out I only picked TW2 yesterday ... (been playing the other TW2 so haven't been nosing around forums) so I'm a virtual noob at this one. Edited June 8, 2011 by swordsman5

You can import the save but it's not a great loss if you don't, you get a few weapons carry through and there are a couple of dialogue changes.
