Bethesda forums and websites hacked: usernames, emails, and passwords

Are hackers on the rise or something? Seems things are getting hacked quite frequently in 2011, that or I'm just noticing it.

I used to always use the same password for every site since my memory is terrible but I suppose they've taken that privilege away... *Sigh*

I'm pretty sure the govt knows whos doing it they're probally giving a'lot of them a chance to stop because who want's to get put away in jail for a dang computer crime. Anybody see live free or die hard? That movie would make me afraid to be a hacker sht you hack the wrong person and they send you a file that bombs your computer if you open it lol (yeah totally movie junk) anyway i'm pretty sure the people who run the internetz can obviously see whos doing what and the sony thing is rediculous I thought they were supposed to get hacked again? hmmm if the hackers are that great wouldnt they have shown their "power" again? (I do mean that in the least offensive way possible) But I think it's fake maybe not all anon hacker's but most of them could be trying to purposly do something so extreme it will cause a complete internet shut down just like the govt wan't.

P.S. When I first saw anonymous all I could think was "fake ass white glove society lol"

@Kuramin yeah something phishy's definitly going on and lol I use sort of the same password too just change a few letters and those time's I did use a diff password I never remember it sure wish I remembered my FlyFF game it's been so long but i'd love to play my account again.

Public flogging followed by drawing and quartering of the perpetrators may be appropriate.

These kind of people really don't believe they can't be caught - they think they are just better than the people trying. Then when they are caught, half are underage and get off with a small slap on the wrist type punishment. and then get a lucrative job as a programmer.

These criminals have ruined the lives of people, and they see it as a joke. And when told they are ruining lives the reply is often "So, If they didn't protect their files that's not my problem. Besides, they won't do much to me and I'll get a good job because I'm so good at hacking." My hope is the 'good' job involves breaking rocks with a sledge hammer for the next few years.

Email I received this morning from Aaryn Flynn GM BioWare Edmonton...

We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from these forum accounts on the system may have been compromised, as well as other information (if any) that you may have associated with your EA Account. In an abundance of caution, we have changed your password to ensure account security. Please visit this [link] to reset your password immediately.

We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on your EA account are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. We advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity to Customer Support at 1-877-357-6007.

If you have questions, please visit our FAQ at http://support.ea.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5367/ or contact Customer Support at the phone number above.

Me too... <sighs> The old BioWare Boards site was my oldest, continuously active site registration.

Now, not only do I have to change my EA password, (which wasn't the same anyway) but they've taken the entire "legacy" site down, so my NWN and other BioWare game keys aren't currently available to me.

(On-line,that is. I have the discs and manuals, of course. And I put a sticky label with the key directly on all my discs AND their cases, since I've learned the hard way that you can't read the stupid key on the disc when it's IN the drive! )

I haven't been home for about a month, so I get back and change my email password because someone told me that they got some weird link from me. Well I changed it and read that Yahoo had been having problems where people's accounts would send links to prescription medicine (...viagra, how nice for my family to get emails from my like that)to their contacts. Then I saw the Bioware email. Then I saw on here the thing about Bethesda. If I had stayed away any longer, when I got home I would have discovered the world is ending! :P Jk. This is really aggravating though, I hope these losers get whats comin for em.
