Personally I would rather leave it to the modders just so the devs could stay focused. Last thing we need is a bunch of programmers looking up porn as research and delaying games even further with more bugs.

Jokes aside I really don't care if there is nudity or not but if it gets this game off of steam well hey I'll back up that vote.

Why is it that we and our children hack people, animals, monters to bloody pulp in a game but if there is any nudity there is an issue? We live in strange times.

A travesty of morals and in many cases a travesty of religion too. Nothing new. It only hit the surface with a vengeance recently.

Don't get me wrong. I've got nothing against game related violence, but if I had kids I would be much more concerned about them chopping off heads than looking at exposed nipples.

Just please, please don't make dead bodies naked after looting their valuable equipment...

Partially undressing dead people is gross enough already.

Also being able to have sex in TES games would also lead to some weird "fantasy racism" issues, read the in-game book Racial Phylogeny if you really want to know what I mean. Though I fully agree that violence should be seen as worse than sex (and both are totally overrated IMO), I vote "nay" for TES games. It would be another story if there was real romance, but you can always turn to creepy japanese dating sims if you want romance and sex in games ;).

I don't know. If its a roleplaying game I'd rather have a well rounded lifelike character than an asexual mindless number crunching killing machine.

But that's probably just me, since I'm not playing these games for the fights. I even tend to tone down difficulty to casual.

Well I like the romance options in, for example, most Bioware RPGs too, I'm mosttly saying that a game like Skyrim where romance is limited to "hey NPC, let's marry for no apparent reason" does not need an option for graphical sex. the "lovers comfort" stuff is good enough. And without sex, there is no real point in nakedness. There's bathing maybe, but you rarely see that in games and nudity is not necessary for it. And I most certainly would not like to see realistic depictions of the other activities (changing clothes as well as "#1 and #2") where you'd be naked or at least "bottomless" in games.

If you'll excuse the rather convoluted point that is coming, I must say that I find it especially strange to object to certain levels of violence or nudity if they are optional and can be toggled on or off. (Come to that, I even find it strange to worry about them at all even without any form of filtering.)

Shielding younger players isn't a valid excuse to not have that sort of content. Where the hell are the parents?

I was gaming from a young age and my parents knew exactly what was in the games I was playing. It's not the responsibility of the companies who make games to protect the supposedly oh-so-delicate sensibilities of young players. That's the job of their parents.

I don't want content dictated by slack parents or prudes...especially when we're talking about OPTIONAL content, which is incredibly easy to offer when it comes to nudity.

I think we can have it all and I think it's absurd to deliberately exclude certain forms of content that can easily be avoided by those who find it objectionable. Nudity doesn't have to be forced on anyone, but by the same token it doesn't have to be withheld from those who want it either.

As for sales, as I recall an 18+ rating never stopped a parent still buying the game for their child.

Incidentally, on a purely personal note, I find it laughable that anyone would get upset over even the most tasteless content in a video game. Worrying about 'morals' in games or fiction in general is about as sane and reasonable as talking to your toilet.

That's beside the point. The irony is, they are allowed to sell games with sorts of graphical violence to minors. But if it comes to sexual content of any kind, the rating would skyrocket, which means less sales.

That's why I called it a travesty, since some concerned lobbies fire away at the game industry, and the ones firing fiercest are the ones having no problem with violence.

Maybe it's because the children of the people who make these kinds of stupid rules are much more likely to actually have premarital or otherwise "sinful" sex than to actually behead or gut people. So more effort is put into the prevention of the more likely "sin"?
