Latvian IP-range is banned or not?

Yup I checked with all my friends across country and Latvia as it seems are banned from New Vegas Nexus. Nexus for Fallout 3 works tho.

Seems a bit too harsh to shut down whole country just because of some stupid kid.

I sent a mail to support, but no answer so far and this thread doesn't get any attention either. It sucks. It really does.

Really? If a DISTRIBUTED attack is coming from a particular ISP or country and that ISP or country will do nothing to stop such attacks (saying it is a form of Free Speech), then this site has every right to take measures to defend itself.

I suggest getting as many of your friends as possible to petition your ISP to stop allowing people to perform such attacks.

If your ISP / country will not stop such attacks and you have a dynamic IP, you are just out of luck since unblocking the IP range is just asking for the DDoS attacks to continue.

I have the same probleme, i can't connect to newvegasnexus and to this forums(using hiding ip programm)! And so, there is no solution? And i don't understand, why cant't normal people access to this sites, it's fault of those DDoSers, why can't you just ban them. And i don't think that our country don't even know about those attacks... Edited by Bratvan

Bans are done via IP address, when the DDOS'er can just reboot his modem and get a new IP from the internet service provider, there is only 2 options, A: Contact the Internet service provider and tell them there customer is doing activities against the site that are illegal in most countries, B: ban the entire IP range.

Since option A does not work because in Latvia DDOS is not against there laws the ISP will not do anything. So that leaves the site admin with the only other alternative, Option B, until such time as Option A can be done.

So, there is no way to unban some ips?

Guys if you need your ip unbanned contact via PM Dark0ne (site owner) with your specific IP. He can make an exception in the firewall as he already have done before.

What ISP would be that? Also Im not inclined to believe that DDOS (whatever it is) is not against the law here. Rather seems like cooked up excuse to not do anything about it. Can I get info about exactly who site owner contacted in Latvia about this problem? Because as OP here explained the ISP who you wrote to may not be the ISP who's services I use.

I really feel for the innocent people of Latvia that have this problem.

But like it's already been said there is nothing Dark0ne can do about it.

It is up to YOUR ISP to fix this problem. Once they change their policies on DDoS attacks then they will be unbanned.

Until that time just contact Dark0ne with your IP address and see if he can do anything about it, if you have a dynamic IP address that changes every so often then you're pretty much out of luck.

Anyone in the right mind would do this for their site too, it's either keep getting DDoS attacked and disrupt EVERYONE'S ability to access the site or stop them with banning the ISP's in Latvia to only disrupt a few peoples ability to access the site.

Either way there is no winning scenario but doing it this way cuts the majority of peoples problems.

If I lived in Latvia I'd be outraged also and be sending my ISP very angry phonecalls and letters. I suggest you guys do the same, make a petition or something. Make your voice heard. Not just for the access to the nexus, but to stop DDoS attacks on anyone elses website. You have all of the nexus behind you as we all want this sorted as much as you do.

Hoping to clarify the problem to some users. A DDoS attack mean many machines whose owners are probably unaware are participating in it, with chance some the users posting here from Latvia could have participated on it without knowing. Edited by nosisab
