Survival mode disable mods?

You can keep your working Fallout 4 v1.4 and have a FO4 v1.5 to play test.

How to do this,

  1. opt out of the beta and make sure your modded game plays just fine.
  2. Rename your fallout 4 folder to something like "Fallout 4 v1.4"
  3. have steam verify game cache (it will not find Fallout 4 because you have changed the folder name)
  4. Let steam install a new clean version of Fallout 4 and then opt back into the Beta and let that install.
  5. Play the game in survival mode.

when you don't want to play the beta game and want your mods back

  1. Rename the Fallout 4 folder to something like Fallout 4 "Survival"
  2. Opt out of the Beta,
  3. Rename your old version of Fallout 4 (which you renamed) back to just "Fallout 4"
  4. Play the game modded in v1.4 again.

For best results create a new save folder in Users/My games/Fallout 4 and rename the old one so you don't accidentally try to load an incompatible save.

it's a little work on your end but you don't loose your progress in your current game and can jump into a survival game to play test any time you want.

Edit: if you just set steam to offline mode after patching for the beta you don't even have to think about opting out again when switching game versions, Just launch the game with F4SE or NMM.

you are BAE

No, you don't need to extract anything from the archive for this. Just leave them in the .ba2 files.

I never have this problem... never, never have .-. I have always been able to play without my mods being locked and I HAVE the beta, I guess idk why, I thought it was with the NMM plugins.txt thing but I guess not.. Wish I could help but my reasoning of why I can play just got shot out the window by some comments I read.

it's really simple the game launches from Fallout 4 folder, As long as you change the folder names and always have a Fallout 4 folder the game will use what ever one you have so if you name one Fallout 4 v1.5 steam, NMM will not see it.

As Raider said you don't need BAE or anything other then the ability to change folder names to make this work.

They removed mods due to some mods that technically "cheat" the game system! Ex: FastTravel from intterior or No fall dmg!

Really appreciate the tip, Chucksteel. Such a simple idea and makes perfect sense, I just hadn't considered it (Then again, I hadn't really had a REASON to.)

I definitely will be doing this after work tonight when I get home, cause I want to check out survival mode for sure.

For the record, I don't think that guy was asking if you need BAE lol. Then again you guys could have been giving him crap for it, but I think either he meant Bad-A** or he meant BAE, I think I have seen people using it as some kind of term on these interwebz now adays... I dont keep up on gibberish any more. 1 a/\/\ |\|07 a5 1337 a5 1 0|\|<3 \/\/45... lol.. I still remember when 1337-speak got super popular, and every damned gamertag used it (Mine included......)

Well it was hard to guess what they meant with three words, I thought maybe they spoke English as a second language and got the wrong verb or something. These days BAE just means Bethesda Archive Extractor to me and I tried to guess the context from the post he was quoting.

Although if they did mean the slang term bae then I'm still not sure what their post was about. That was just a really confusing post.

I actually don't know what bae slang-wise means either, guess I am getting out of date / old... but just the way the person posted prior, and the wording, made me think they are one of those people that love to talk 'interwebz' style, so to speak.

I could always be wrong, but, the post prior to that makes me think thats the case :)

Ah, yeah I always took it as exactly that, a 'ghetto' Babe. One of those words that spawned due to many people typing it wrong, kind of like the "teh" usage for a long time (Anyone remember that...? Lots of people would use teh instead of the to mock people that constantly mis-typed it.. I think "stronk" is still used too..)
