Mods that's a must to have?`

Well I'm a semi new player when it comes to fallout 4.

Haven't really done a full play through, I know I disliked vanilla FO4 a lot.

So well in the past I have more or less ruined the game by constantly adding more mods.

Or updating mods I had installed.

This time around I would like to limit my self to around 10-20mods.

And as thus wonder which mods would you recommend?

1 thing I really need to get rid of is Bethesda's level requirement for perks.

If I want to go all in on lock picking/hacking I shouldn't have to wait for their level requirements.

That's probably the only mod I will consider as critical.

Otherwise I want your opinion on mods that makes it more immersive/richer practical in settlements and so on.

I should also mention I'm not much for companions at all. They are rather a nuisance and just in my way.

There no patches so..

Look up fixes?

If you disliked base FO4, I'm not sure mods of pre-CK will not give you much to change the game. In fact, the new mode in beta is most game changer yet.

Give it some time, like a month after the CK drops.

So you are skyrim player? Well, it a fallout thing, but there are many mods that remove that.

Well in fallout 3 you could still train your skills to 100% without having to meet special level requirements as long as you had the stats/skill points for it. In FO4 you don't have those skill points to my knowledge.

What does patches or fixes have to do with this thread a bit confused there. I asked for recommendations for mods you consider a must have for your game. I know I didn't like the vanilla game very much, so I prefer to add mods to my game.

And would like ideas on what mods to look for.

If you are really keen on modding your game, I recommend first learning how to do it properly, since you say you ruined your previous game install with mods and updating mods. Aside for that, this is the best tool for finding the mods you want..

Also, there's probably no way to change the leveling system back to the previous titles, better accept it the (poor) way it is now and continue your life :)

You still need to level up and have high INT if you want to able to strong unlock stuff at low levels. Skyrim let you level up the skill and you don't really need perks.

I'm sure patches and fixes are a must have.

For my game? I have some weapon mods, KS hairs and I maybe raider overhaul may something for you. But that is really it.

Well to be fair the new system isnt bad. Depending on how you look at it.

You just spend your perk points to raise your skill, opposed to having separate allotments for both skills/perks. So instead of investing points in big guns, you spend one perk on heavy gunner thats like spending 20 skill points in that skill.

If you don't like vanilla Fallout 4, then why not just give up and go do something else? Maybe take a class in basket weaving or industrial welding or go play some baseball? Maybe run for a local political office, or legally chance your name to something entirely silly. So many things in life you can do besides play a game you don't like.

I don't really like base Skyrim but Requiem made one of my top games.

Mods can really change a game to whatever suits you.
