Fatalmasterpiece
As you may know, the FO4 Creation Kit has entered closed beta. While I am not currently in this beta, there is evidence that Bethesda is updating Fallout 4 with their own "Bethesda.net launcher". Additionally Mods.Bethesda.net has been activated on their website and directs to a Bethesda "workshop". This seems to indicate that Bethesda is planning to release some sort of official mod capacity far beyond what they have in the past. http://i.imgur.com/ZxyjiPj.pngFor those who may not know, in the most recent Survival Beta, Bethesda has changed how the game reads plugins. While initially many users assumed Bethesda intended to disable mods, in actuality they have changed the way game loads them. In fact, after trial and error, it's been discovered plugins function just fine as before, but with some changes to their loading. What does all this mean? We can't be sure yet but I'm interested to hear other's insights into this.
TeamBacon
Maybe the Nexus won't have a monopoly over modding anymore.
Mavkiel
It never had a monopoly. It just has the largest population with far more flexible rules then other services like steam or beth.net has.
Ethreon
If by monopoly you mean offering the best content and community, yea, nexus has it. I don't see how beth's forum community can compare. Anyway, this is just another annoyance and hassle, all in the name of console modding.

Fatalmasterpiece
Maybe the Nexus won't have a monopoly over modding anymore.*imagines Robin in a top-hat and monocle* Hmm, no pretty sure he just provided all of us with an awesome place to share mods which just happens to be more popular than other sites. There are other places to get mods you know, like llabs and plenty of tumblr blogs. :turned: Some hate the nexus since it has anime titties, now they can go to beth.net. It's really easy to turn off adult content though. But those people who don't want to see it just can't keep from looking ironically enough. Anyways, I think we should see this as a good thing. As someone who grew up seeing how the movie industry fought VHS tapes and VCRs and how the music industry tried to fight digital formatting and downloads, I can only be happy to see video game companies embracing user content while not interfering with the Nexus. Some may not realize how lucky we are to have a place like the Nexus which allows such free sharing of original content without gateways like Steam. Not really. We are user base driven, some mods are not really welcome. Like slooty male mods, then female slooty mods, then ones that suit the lore. I don't see how competition can be a bad thing for modding as a whole. I think people should have the choice, and right now the Nexus is the only real choice I have when it comes to uploading my mod, everything else is just failure waiting to happen. I don't see how it would be a bad thing having two different places I could upload my content. Let's say for example that I am applying for a job at an indie game studio I wanted to work at, and I wanted to show them the last project I have been working on. I don't really feel comfortable sending my potential boss a link to a website that peddles soft core porn like the Nexus does. I can't just send him/her the link and say *and by the way, make sure you filter out the porn content on the website*. When it comes to my gamer friends, I encourage them to come onto the Nexus and be part of the community. But not everyone I know in the real world that I would like to share my stuff with would understand. I am not anti-Nexus or anything like that, I just wish I had a legitimate secondary source to host my stuff for those cases I don't want to be associated with porn.
