Oh... Bethesda learned nothing from steam paid mod.

Fellow beta tester here.

It's called a BETA for a reason, you idiot. Its still in development, they have no less than two different stickied threads asking what features we'd like to see or what current features might be broken. Yeah, the current system is clunky as hell, but it's by no means the final product - hell, knowing Bethesda they'll probably crank out a couple updates/tweaks within the first month of it going live.

Bitching about an unfinished product that you volunteered to help test and improve is simply f*#@in' retarded.

Ah, the Beth trolls, who love to tell us that Zenimax can do no wrong!

1) the GECK should have been released by now. That it hasn't is entirely to Beth wanting to max out their 'horse armour' money grab.

2) the idea that a major piece of software is 'transformed' by testing in the LAST 1% of its development cycle is plain LAUGHABLE.

3) the so-called FO4 mods for Consoles has been known to be a very bad joke for months now. Worse, the logic of console mods has to impact Beth's attitude to PC mods- if not for FO4, certainly for Skyrim 2 and beyond.

4) player interest in the thoroughly mediocre FO4 is falling off a cliff compared to earlier Beth titles. Day one (GECK) mods could have changed this situation, by beginning a process to fix the lamentable story and missing role-playing in the game. Just look at the number of downloads of the most popular unofficial mods during the first month of release. Now compare that scale of figure with the current level of unofficial mod downloads today.

In every sense but the financial one, Beth has mishandled the latest entry in the Fallout franchise in every possible way. The Beth kool-aid drinkers will help relegate Beth to the giant historic pile of failed once great game developers if they have their way. Beth needs to be made to listen to the sharpest possible criticism at this time if this fate is to be avoided.

What you mean is "Anyone that isn't as pissed off as me that the game wasn't built around what I want or doesn't care about the things I care about as much as I do is a troll." I don't care about what you care about as much as you do. I'm not a Bethesda fanboy. If they do something that totally sucks, I'll call it how I see it. But I like Fallout 4 for what it has. Better combat that previous Fallouts. Settlement Building. An open world with lots of stuff to explore. Mods. Better stability than the TES games, FO3 and FONV.

1. This is not relevant to the conversation.

2. Nobody said or implied that, just that there might be improvements soon after release, which is within the realm of possible.

3. Care to elaborate?

4. This is also totally irrelevant to the conversation.

You're really just here to vent your frustration about the game in general, not to add anything useful to the conversation. Inb4 I'm the koolaid man for pointing out the obvious.

Hey, didn't you beta testers have to sign a non-disclosure agreement or something?

Anyway, I'm wouldn't be surprised if Beth were to take the path of least effort and just %&$@ it all up.

I am curious. Believe it or not, I wanted in on the Beta since I kinda figured that it would be a lot like the Skyrim Creation Kit, but missed both sign-up windows. Besides, designing the tools to be used on consoles always did sound like a god-awful idea to me. There are just simply some things best done on a pc... 'terrain editing, scripting, etc,' that a console is frankly... not really designed for. You honestly just need a good old fashioned mouse and a keyboard for a lot of what, 'we,' the community do. I presume that it can be done on a console using a controller, but being done and being done well are two totally different things. Having the tools designed for omni-usage, a single program designed for both a console and a pc, on paper seems logical... 'and bloody cheap,' but I kinda did think that in practical usage the program would need to be soooo dumbed down to be used on consoles that it would almost make it worthless. If I assume what you say is truth, then the program has pretty much been designed for consoles and the pc crowd is just going to have to 'deal with it.' This; of course, is a greed culture decision, and a very bad idea meant to accommodate what suits refer to as, 'the largest equitable market.' Though bringing modding to consoles would most definitively extend the games lifespan by opening up modding to a greater group of individuals... such actions could have terrible consequences should the program prove... less than adequate. Namely, if the program is terrible for the PC crowd... we could and probably would stop, leaving Bethesda with a large amount of console modders who frankly don't have access to the same degree of tools and skills that we've developed for PC. After all, the console has a locked hard-drive so developing assets in blender, gimp, nifskope, etc; would be damn near impossible should those programs be made available for consoles (which they won't). Designing this tool for the lowest common denominator is... while a pragmatic decision for mass market, also a bad in the long run for maintaining the games sustained popularity and usage.
