NCRForever
So, in the cut scene when you first get to the vault elevator to be lowered down into the vault proper, has been really bothering me. A nuclear shock wave reaches temps well over 1000 degrees centigrade. The shock wave that hits the area above the vault, may have been lower, but, I am not sure how far the blast needs to reach before the thermal temps start lowering. Not to mention the fact that accompanying the shock wave are gamma rays. Deadly to humans. None of that cut scene makes sense to me.My physics could be off and if anyone has real info that will shed some light on this subject, please post some links that will show that people could survive. Until then, I believe that my char died at that point and is NOW in Hell. Which in my opinion would explain the way the world is in the Fallout universe. lol Edited May 5, 2016 by NCRForever
minngarm
Something that has been bothering me about the post is that you call the first part of the game a cutscene despite it not being a cutscene but a playable part.

Boombro
Yes, you would at least be blind as far as I know.
Reneer
The physics of the Fallout universe are, in certain areas, wildly different than our own, especially surrounding how actual nuclear fallout / nuclear bombs behave.
TheOriginalEvilD
OK so anyway now that we got the definition of a cut scene out of the way  It's pretty unrealistic, but what else is new? Yeah the wind alone that blows over the top of the shaft as you're lowering down would be enough to vaporize every person standing there, or at the very least they would all have been exposed to so much radiation it would have killed them (or at least turned them into ghouls) but hey welcome to the world of Fallout. It doesn't have to make sense when you create your own reality.
Lisnpuppy
It is a game that is sci-fi and not a reality like ours. You simply have to accept the beginning scene that they were down enough or it was far enough away or whatever to have them survive. Perhaps they did take all the radiation out of their system below as well as make them freezer pops. The reality is not our own and to enjoy the game you have to accept the differences. This is NOT our world as much as it seems familiar. This is an alternate timeline/alternate universe and that is it.
minngarm
Not when it freezes you at that point. Learn the difference. The difference is that a cut scene is a cut away to a story scene that the player has no interaction in.
NCRForever
Not when it freezes you at that point. Learn the difference. The difference is that a cut scene is a cut away to a story scene that the player has no interaction in. Exactly and at that point, you have no volition of your own. Hence, cut scene. Back on point. That's exactly why I RP my guy as being in Hell. My own mind plays a huge part in it. lol
