Skyrim in yesteryear

This is assuming all you have heard about Skyrim has greatly excited you, If every aspect of the gameplay in all its facets were still in the game but the graphics were reminiscent of a time gone by a decade or so ago, would that impact your desire to play the game?

Personally, I admit that I am addicted to quality graphics. My Elder Scrolls experience started with Oblivion and whilst the graphics there weren't the greatest to be found at the time of its release, I tried but just could not get immersed into the world of older titles like Morrowind.

I'd play it regardless of the graphics. I played Deus Ex last week and the game was so amazingly good I didn't even notice that most people in it look like creepy lobster-people and that you can count the pixels on the wall.

This is like asking if we would still play the game if they removed combat. It's a part of the game, just like gameplay.

removing an element of a game and lowering the quality of graphics are two different issues, you remove graphics and you have a pen and paper game.

I have one exception with my love for HQ graphics, Minecraft, looks cheap because it's meant to but a highly addictive game.

For me what trumps both graphics and gameplay is story.

What I'm about to say might get some negative attention, but I think it's worth mentioning to illustrate how little the graphics actually matter:

I already feel let down by the graphics of Skyrim, but I'm going to play it regardless, because I think it'll be a fun game to play.

How do I justify this? I don't, I just had an unrealistic expectation. I was following a line between releases.. Redguard to Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim. However, because it's not on a new console, it's hindered by the capabilities of this gen of consoles. Oh well. Like I said, I think it'll be fun anyway.

I don't think what you say is totally unfounded, I'm pretty sure there would be some drastic changes had there been a change in the consoles of today...

As for graphics, well to be honest I couldn't get into a game with pretty outdated graphics unless it was a legendary title... Or if it were meant to have that feel(like minecraft).

I would still play it if it had graphics like Daggerfall, but the gameplay mechanics must stay like they are now. (the dual welding, the more responsive controls etc)

Graphics don't really matter for me if the art design is right.

Gameplay over graphics, but honestly. I am looking forward to see all the beautiful hilltops and the white mysterious mist. I think the graphics are really important for the climate of Skyrim.
