The new design

Why are we even arguing? You all know that our 'feedback' is pointless. They want to lose users because they wanted to fix what wasn't broken, let them. Their loss.

That's not the case at all. If anything, they want to gain more users. Why would anybody want to loose their fans and community? That's ridiculous. Our feedback is also not pointless. Well, part of it is. The constant pleasing of returning the old design is pointless, as that is never going to happen. However, it is the communities job to direct the making of the site to how we would like it, with modifications from Dark0ne along the way of course.

Firstly this is not an argument, it's feedback discussion, secondly, do you know of any other mod sites as comprehensive as this one?, there's not going to be any loss.

I disagree. You are right that this site was different and more comprehensive. Most importantly it was a site that seemed to promote mod users and mod authors mixing together. But we have yet to see if that is still true. This is the first night in a long long time I have not checked to see if I had questions on my mod pages. Right now I can imagine just hosting files here and moving the discussion and feedback somewhere else.

I can't wait for the people who say "you're just afraid of change". Sometimes change isn't for the best no matter how good the intentions.

Now that i've gotten that off my chest... on to my problems! It won't be a long list today because i'd rather not pile on. Anyway, the text inside all of the capsule buttons are not lining up and the login and messages buttons are displaying past the orange bar. It looks like speedbumps under those two buttons. The Steam icon under the logout button is also three quarters hidden.

I also agree with @falloutperson416 that the file descriptions have to be wider. I also think the main Description space should be much wider as well. Electro-City is a prime example why this needs to be adjusted.

That's it today, i'll try to adjust but it might take a while.

Edit: The buttons and text are messed up in Firefox but not Safari.

Amen to that. I try to be on top of my comments all the time, but now I can see that may not be the case anymore.

The white on orange is hell on the eyes. It hurts even more than in the demo. After 9 hours looking at a computer at work I don't even want to look at new mods right now but usually its the first thing I do when I get home.

Bling and their awful white on orange logo is a fad that should just go away and die like disco music did.

I'll start out with a comment that I really feel should be the primary philosophy behind site renovations. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." When you try to do that you wind up breaking more things than you fix, and you guys broke a LOT of stuff in this new design. I'm not going to restate everything that's already been stated. I'm in agreement with virtually every negative comment I've read in this thread. What I will say, is this, though ...

Whatever were you guys thinking when you figured that Nexus should look like a typical blog? I can deal with the new layout, even though it's clunky and confusing. The deal-breaker for me is that you've chosen to compress everything into a narrow band in the middle of my screen. Come on, guys, this is 2011. HTML can adjust to the width of a display. Instead, now we're in mouse-scrolling Purgatory. And, no, using the zoom feature of my browser isn't an option. Sure, it fills the screen, but it makes the text bigger, too, so I still don't get any more text on one line. This was a Bad Design Decision. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that.

I was thinking about upgrading my membership to Premium. That's not going to happen, now, because you've made Nexus a real pain in the behind to navigate and read. Give us an option to make it look like the old Nexus and I might reconsider. I'd rather not have the extra features and get the extra usability and user-friendliness that the old version has over the new one. If this new design doesn't drive members away to other sites for their modding needs I'll be very surprised.

I can try to figure out the new site and I will try to hold back my distaste in it, but the images user upload in the picture section or in mods are now horrible and pixelated when a thumbnail it looks bad.

Hell I can not even see half the images in the image section they do not show up and are out of line, I dont really understand what settings I need to change to fix this but its annoying as heck.

Co-signing that.

I'll give the new design a chance before deciding what I think of it. I will say one thing though - and this applied to the old design as well. I'd really like a way to switch color scheme/theme. White text against a dark page is horrendous. I don't know why almost all gaming sites do that but I wish it would stop. It's not 1995 any more and some of us have eyes that no longer belong to teenagers.

I'd really like to be able to switch to a color scheme that's readable. I can do it on the message board but not the nexus portals.

Love, love, love this new design. Been exploring since I got home from work a few hours ago.

Totally friendly, easy to use and not only nicer, but its faster. The downloads are smooth and quick without all that annoying multipage openings. Kudos and more kudos to the designer. Made a great site awesome.
