TheJaiGuy
Hey everyone, not sure if this has been discussed yet, but it is relevant for computer users. Well here is the thing, If Skyrim is being ran on Steam I am really hoping that they don't make you have to download the game from Steamif you get my drift. I recently got Dead Island and they provide the disc but you have to download the game from Steam and not off the disc.If they do this with Skyrim, I and many others will be pissed beyond comprehension, am I correct? So another way to put this, why I hold this magnificent masterpiece as a disc, I don't want to download it off the internet and have just a hollow discWhat is the point in that? it is illogical in my perspective. You buy a game when you buy a disc, you don't buy a disc to give you the ability todownload a game off the internet and waste more money in transition. Some people have shocking internet (me included) and wont be able to play for like 2 months if this is the case.So anyone who has a chance of posting a question to Bethesda and other providers, Make sure they provide the game with it's disc. AdoringStan
I COMPLETELY agree. It makes me so mad when I order the disc for the specific purpose of installing it from that, and it makes me download it... first of all, I payed extra for the disc, and second of all, I have REALLY bad internet (I kind of live in the middle of nowhere) and it takes FOREVER to download... at least if they do it with Skyrim I will be at my friends house who has really fast internet. Ghogiel
Sure, I don't see why anyone in their right might would want to waste bandwidth and time DLing every time you need to reinstall it.

JimboUK
The games are on the disks, it's steam that decides to download the game instead. There is a way to stop Steam doing that, offhand I can't tell you how because it didn't bother me with New Vegas but it is possible. how about buy an xbox then you wont have to deal with steam Pay more for medium to low settings, a laughable resolution, dodgy framerates and no mods. Bargain.
Vagrant0
I would say that it is a safe bet that everything for the game to run will be on the disk. So far I have not heard of any company using Steam to impose a forced download on a game to fill in major parts of the game information which was missing. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened at some point since it would make the game harder to do 0 day cracks (since the only way to get the complete game would be to download it off Steam, which in itself could require some Steam component to even run the game), but I doubt anyone has plans for something like that given how many people already complain about having to use Steam. From a cost standpoint, it doesn't make any sense though since the cost of shipping a partial game is the same as a full game (or nearly even if a higher media density is needed). If they really wanted people to use Steam, they could just simply have shipped nothing, made the game fully Steam, and the savings in shipping would make up for both the loss of sales from the anti-Steam crowd as well as whatever actual value lost any piracy causes. Revengeance
I don't think that there is a single 50 dollar disc game that makes you download the game off the internet. Sometimes Steam will try to do it, but you can fix that as a poster above said.
