Skyrim vs Fallout 4

Actually I prefer general endings like New Vegas did. After the Hoover Dam could be so much boring endgame.

Yeah, I think FNV handled it best. Do what you want with this world, but if you embark on the last journey, it's game over. Even with Morrowind, which offered a novel concept at the time, I felt no incentive to continue after having beaten the game.

I really don't think it the best, what if people wanted to play after the ending to RP for example?

Let say the game main quest about you being a hero like always, but there are many other long quests for evil play. To rp a hero lost his path and s#*!. And honestly, i like the option of being able to go back even i did miss something. And being able to see the changes you made is pretty cool.

Yes, but these game don't really offer that option. After the main quest they just offer more of the same radiants, some fetch and carry and some go there, kill that quests.

If one story DLC offered that kind of option, it would be nice, but I have yet to see it. Broken Steel certainly doesn't fall into that category, since it's all about fighting.

It would be interesting how many people actually go on playing the games after the main quest. FO4 might be the first one offering at least some kind of incentive, given that there's no level cap and given the settlement building.

What if the developers were forced to make Aftermath of the Hoover Dam?

They must had to make each of different consequence of the faction you chose, more voice acting, more scripts, depicting tons of things ongoing in conquered territories for each faction; unless want to hear complaining about 'not enough immersive'.

Lots of resources have to be sunken for that empty part where the fun party is over, beaten most achievements. no antagonist to deal with. All left is a pile of self-repeating radiant quests and your pretty decorated house. It's a confined situation aka 'Endgame'. You just keep going because nothing else to do.

I don't want to see valuable assets to be wasted. I would rather try different ending or do something different.

For me, it's better to see them spend resources on better new game with more feature,

than try to satisfy endless demands from nitch fandom. Luckily game development is a seriously business so do not happen in that way.

Yeah, you know. In an ideal game world with unlimited resources, this would be a challenge and fun. Give that this is not the case, games end at some point. Either because the developers reached the end of their intended story arc or because the player simply gets bored by the game not offering anything new after the main quest.

That's why I agreed to you saying that FNV handled it best in my opinion. And I reallly would be interested what percentage of players keeps on grinding after finishing the main in Bethesda games. I always tend to start over with some new player, trying out different tactics.

Well the most likely thing is "Aftermath of Hoover Dam" would take place waaaaaay later in the series as even by Fallout 4 the war is almost ten years old. So the next game it'll be a thing of the past.

Yeah RP folks can write fan fiction or create tabletop supples to continue their story. It costs zero assets. Sadly video games are not. They have to move on to next game. I also don't mind what happened right after the Hoover Dam. Hopefully next spin-off will spotlight NCR and more other interesting antagonist. Speaking of next games, what I really do care is,

1) if this Settler feature will remain as an integral part of Fallout and Elder Scroll series. If so, probably next Elder Scroll will be building bright future from the dust between Empire vs Dominion.

2) will Beth continue Bioware treatment of interesting companions and possible romance.

3) will big conflict among big factions trend linger more.

I have become grown more on taking EDE or Dogmeat alone, go motorcycle all across the Waste, scaving and do dirty jobs. Something individual touch with more local factions and their quests is preferable to me. Sadly that is not spectacle enough to the former. But I can hope.

1) I certainly hope so. Would be fun to rule over your own peasants in the next Elder Scroll game.

2) They've got a long way ahead of them if they want to beat Bioware in this game. Bioware has flaws of it's own, but their strengths are companions and romances. I hope, at some point, if even possible, modders take up on the companion aspect. Such as not being able to create a mixed harem, dating nearly all of the possible companions. Some of the FO4 companions are really interesting, as far as writing is concerned, but the romance feature is rather meh.

So here's a question - never played Skyrim but will pick up the remaster for sure, which console Mods should I look out for (with any luck assuming the great Mod war of 2016 is over by then) to improve it before I start?

Other than patches and Ui mods. nothing.

Try to play it in it pure form, you don't want to mod it in the first run as much as you can.

Yeah, that's how I like to do it as well. First runs (and sometimes second and third runs) I do with the vanilla game. I really want to know what types of mods I will want or what I think would improve the flavor of the game before I mod up the game. . But that's just me.. Many people play these types of games simply for the mods.

I actually have trouble staying away from mods as well so I always buy the game on console first. I wait until the game is completed (all dlc and what not) and then I'd buy it on pc and mod to my little hearts content. Console mods are going to make it a bit tougher on my fragile willpower. Hopefully I'll be able to play a bit with mods and then be satisfied enough to wait for the rest of the DLC to be released before wanting to venture out into a fully modded game.
