HadToRegister
Using Logitech G35 headphones, and a mod called AutoLoot.I'm NOT blaming the mod, it's NOT the mod's fault, it's just that the mod has called attention to the problem. I have noticed that if I'm mousing over something, or manually looting something while autoloot is also looting, it seems that the SOUND of looting (usually the paper swishing sound) will just freeze my game.I had a freeze also as I was opening a door and autoloot picked up a bottle at the same exact time, so I heard the "door squeak" and the "bottle pick up" sound, and FREEZE. While repairing Corn at Starlight drive-in, right as I put my cursor over the stalk to repair, autoloot looted something, and FREEZE It's as if whenever I'm targeting something and have it labeled next to my Targeting 'dot', or have the cursor over an item in a container inventory, and autoloot loots something that makes a noise I get an instant freeze. So, I used a "Silent Loot" mod, that removes the pickup and put-down sounds from items, as an experiment to verify whether this was a sound related issue, and I played several hours last night with not one freeze. So, the autoloot mod has pointed me towards a sound issue, and I have read an article about about getting rid of 'freezing' in Fallout 4 by setting the audio to stereo, so, has anybody else had freezing issues? At this point I may experiment further by uninstalling the "Silent Loot" mod, and routing my Fallout 4 sound through my firewire interface and using stereo and see if that helps, as it kind of sucks to not hear things being looted and removing those "pick up/put down" sounds also removes outfit switching sounds etc.
JimmyRJump
A driver issue, maybe? Had it in the past when getting a GPU with HD sound embedded (HD5870, I think) which took over from my regular sound card and my game crashed constanly (Mass Effect 2). Updating the drivers of my GPU (was using the ones that came on the install disc) solved the problem... Edited July 4, 2016 by JimmyRJump
Rodjama
OP, I'm not up to speed with what mod is on what platforms but is this on PC or console? If your on PC, are you using dedicated sound card?

If your on PC, are you using dedicated sound card? PC I have on-board realtek 7.1 sound, and USB Logitech 7.1 G35 Headphones I switch between the two depending on what I'm doing, if I'm watching YouTube videos, I'll set the RealTek onboard sound as the default device, if I'm gaming I'll set the Headphones as the default device. This is the only game where I've had this problem. It seems if text is being displayed next to the cursor, (IE contents of a body, container, safe, etc) at the same time something is looted my game will freeze. JimmyRJump
Why don't you let the G35 run over the Realtek drivers? To my knowledge FO4 isn't in 7.1. The G35 probably does an upmix or has some sort of Pro-Logic channel splitter that does the business. Could it be that there's a conflict because the game tries to run the sound through both devices at the same time when you loot and some such? Logitech software isn't exactly known for its flexibility either (speaking from experience as I've been using tons of Logitech mice and keyboards over the last 20 years; using a G19 keyboard since five years and its software has only recently started running without causing any conflicts). That's exactly what I do, per my previous post, "if I'm gaming I'll set the Headphones as the default device."I do it using the playback device panel built into windows and set whichever one I'm using as the "Default Device", this game is the only game I've run across to have a problem like this, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised with a game engine older than Hadrian's Wall
JimmyRJump
If and when the G35 comes with its own drivers then setting it to the default device makes the OS switch drivers. I don't know how the G35 functions, and I've never had the issue using whatever headphones (mainly a Creative Fatal1ty Gaming headset, can't remember which model- and/or a Sennheiser HD-201 which I plug into the front 5.25" bay panel of my sound card. The software is set to let the jack detect if there's a headset connected and switches automatically).

Ok, I was only asking because I had Creative's X-Fi Titanium card for years that gave me good service until I found it causing too many CTD's and lockups in this game. After removing it and of course the drivers for it too, and reverting to my motherboards realtek sound chip, the CTD's and lockups have been reduced significantly so far. Its inferior sound quality imo but it makes for smoother gameplay experience so I shouldn't complain. All this after Creative released win10 drivers for this card too. However, steam released another update patch for FO4 yesterday, so I"m yet to see how much more stable and CTD free this game is...
