lelcat
What I did not like is the large amount of American History references and that there are so many historical wooden houses. I would have liked more sci-fi. More skyscrapers. Because the American War of Independence is a very boring topic for Europeans. However I think the story was great. Because it was scattered across the gameplay. All the different companion reactions to things were great.
Deleted2433418User
FO4 has got great graphics,(sorta) some mildly interesting characters and a good setting which is let down by lack of commitment.. That, being said.. It is NOT a roleplaying game.. it is NOT,in any way built to actually let you make your own path.. a heavy number of quests and option rely on you to finish the main(very, very rigid) story-line which forces you to look for something some of us don´t give a beetle-bum about.. the dialogue is... yeah, well, but at least it doesn´t matter what you say anyways.. I apologize to the X-Boxers and other people who dislike actual control and genuine roleplaying.. but this Game has been dumbified(it´s a word) to cater for those who prefer gaming from the couch.. it´s a great FPS if that´s what you like..but a roleplaying adventure?.. nope. it ain´t hackin it hoss.. I still play it though.. mostly for the fun of trying out mods and climbing the learning ladder of modding muself.. but as a Fallot game it falls three clicks short of target.. if you want to shoot anything that moves ? this is the game.. want to feel the consequences of your actions and make your own way in the Wastelands?..nope pardner.. y´all have to mosey down ta Miss Kitty and pick up some of the real Fallout titles... *this has been an excerpt from the upcoming rant about FO4,featuring,anger,bile,sarcasm and lots and lots of suggestions to where Beth can put something and rather tedious remarks and observations on the mechanics, gameplay and overall feel of this couldabeengreat game*
Boombro
A good game even if lackluster. To bad they did not give it time. would have been really good if they added let say, another city with about 5 other long quests. Most quests are good, the level design is good, OST is good, followers are good, writing is 50-50 but bad in the main quest department, fire the lead writer plz. I have to say, the building system is a great addition to the beth games, but it just badly done. It just so bad overall. Like not being able to build houses with no holes in them, hardly any tutorial, bugs, it just so bad on all levels i can think of. The factions are ok except the MM, they are horrible. The bos are really good however, good quests, good followers, nice toys.
D4nks
Fun game, I feel I got my money's worth out of it. It's just not a "Fallout" game to me, nor is it an RPG. Replay value for me is really diminishing.

There's no way you could have a game setting take place in Boston and not reference the history there. That's what Boston is. And that's what the Fallout games have done since I started playing them with FO3 (didn't play 1 or 2).
kraag
Zanity, read all your posts in this thread and must say you bring up some fair and valid points. This game is terrible on consoles and the PC port is 100x worse. The PC version could have done with some basic optimization at the very least, like a PC monitor-based user interface and dialogue controls and better mouse/keyboard support. Also, I can't stand the male voiced protagonist, he sounds like a 40-year old going on 14. Creepy - not to mention how it kills 80% of modding potential for mods that add dialogue for quests. The graphics are a slight step up from Skyrim engine - but still - the LOD texture degradation system is DOA. Pathetic really. dragonturtle
I think FO4 has breadth but not enough depth. It has a lot of features but none of them are fully realized. Examples: 1. Main story teases you with 3-4 morally grey factions, then devolves into mass murder. How about a diplomacy option like Skyrim had 5 years ago? 2. Settlement building has no payoff. How about decreasing radiant quests based on strength of settlements? Or spawn points outside settlement boundaries to simulate tower defense games? 3. Companions have mostly great personalities. But content is so limited only half of them acknowledge the ending. And who tested their AI? It's a good game that could've been great were it not for the glaringly obvious, missed opportunities. snapper69
I have about 400 hours invested in FO4 and I'm still enjoying it, although a lot of that enjoyment is down to the mods that I've installed. I played FO3 and FO:NV and enjoyed them, but there was never the feeling of belonging or making a difference that I get with FO4 and it's settlement building, even though, without mods it's flawed and difficult to use. I tend to play it in FPS view and I can count the number of times that I've used VATS (bloody awful name, reminds us of the 20% that the government rip us off wnenever we buy anything) on the fingers of one foot. I wish that Bethesda had followed on from the main story and allowed me, with a bit of help from the BOS, Minutemen and my settlers, to take back the Commonwealth and drive out (kill) all the ne'er do wells. I started playing FO4, remembering how brilliant FO:NV was, so I went back and started FO:NV again, all I can say is nostalgia isn't what it used to be. sinlessorrow
My issue with the game is the simple fact that 200 years after the bombs fell and outside of Diamond City there is no semblance of society. Skeletons litter the roads, cars everywhere....somewhere in those 200 years someone had to think....hey let's clean up.
