Deleted133263User
Not sure if this will affect the site in any big way these days, but just in case .. Mozilla dropping Flash support ( Only noticed it because it was briefly on BBC Tech News until it was filtered out ) Google said a while back they will be taking similar measures, all NPAPI plugin support was being stopped but the big three ( Flash, Silverlight and the horrible Java plugin which has been a major contributor to malware infestations over the years ) were to be extended a bit to give websites time to change, Google have their own more secure version of Flash in Pepperflash for the google chrome Browser, but even that will eventually bite the dust when HTML5 is more prevalent, then plugins which are a constant extra surface to worry about for malware attacks can get dropped completely. Just try un-installing flash and you will find most videos on YouTube ( owned by Google ) these days work without Adobes full blown version of Flash. Even Adobe are making moves away from it at last Anyway @Dark0ne .. If you have anything dependant on Adobe warez these days obviously needs looked at sometime soon. Microsoft being about ten years behind anyone else with software changes will probably keep their version of pepperflash for Edge for a while .. For anyone that uses it. Dark0ne
We don't use Flash. The only thing that uses flash on the site are ads, and I imagine they'll convert very quickly.
Deleted133263User
Ah good to know there will be no transitional problems due to that, I wasnt sure because its been a long time since I had it installed to know any difference.
TheMastersSon
According to the article the entire plugin model is being abandoned for Firefox. Entirely predictable but still tragic imo, and thank God for forks. :) Firefox will be relegated to our permanent extinction folder the day they drop plugin support for video playback. Encrypted or not.
