vulcan78
I also posted this in the comments that accompany the mod itself and in the mod talk section: Happy Thanksgiving fellow PC gamers! I installed the 4gblauncher.exe and its associated .dll in my "C:/program files (86)/steam\steamapps/common/skyrim" folder and there also appeared a "veryhigh.ini" in the folder as I did this, I launched from that icon and instead of the usual 55-60 FPS I get on 1680x1050 resolution I was getting no more than 23 FPS. Any ideas? My rig specs: M17xR2: 1920x1200 RGB LED, 6 GB RAM, i7 920xm default voltage and OC% (BLCK 133 x27,27,26,25 TDP/TDC 95/85), 5870 Xfire (800/1100 1.05v), Ultimate Cooling Mod w/ Shin Etsu. Logitech G35 headphones 3DMarkVantage: P18389 I also go by the same username on the Alienware forum at notebookreview.com and techinferno.com if anyone frequents those sites. MShoap13
Are you using Fraps to get your FPS? Fraps may clash with the helper.dll as they use similar methods to hook in to games. If so, try playing without Fraps and see if your game is still choppy/slow to respond compared to without the 4GB launcher. Unfortunately the "tdt" console command doesn't appear to do anything (though it's still a valid command :psyduck:) in Skyrim so the only way I know of to monitor your FPS is through external means. It may be possible that "tdt" is working but you also need to toggle on a "display debug text" type option that I've yet to come across (though sdt still works :psyduck:). Good ideas though, keep em coming please! I am really confused, everyone seems to be using this mod without much ado in the comments section of the mod itself. MShoap13
As with any program, different hardware and software configurations can result in wildly different experiences. Unfortunately, graphics card monitoring software also has the potential to mess with .dll hooks. ENBseries, FXAA PPI, and FPS Limiter all list tools like RadeonPro as potential sources of problems. So far, I've been using MSI Afterburner with ENBseries/FXAA PPI without any issues on my older XP x64 desktop though a lot of people do have problems due to this. You can try disabling RadeonPro completely and see if that helps. You won't have an FPS number to look at, but you can still determine whether or not the game is performing at a playable rate. Like me, you probably have custom fan/OC profiles setup and don't want to lose them so if RadeonPro turns out to be the issue you may have to try a different tool or do without the stability the 4GB launcher adds. I recommend staying away from ATI Tray Tools as I've seen more complaints about it messing with this type of injector mod than any other program. I will try disabling Radeon Pro as I am not really using it for anything in Skyrim, some have expressed success with forcing Skyrim to use an Oblivion AA profile through it but I havent seen any noticeable gains, and thats about the only thing Radeon Pro may help Skyrim with. myounage
Are you using the new 11.11A/B drivers? Did switching to those drivers massively increase your FPS?
nosisab
Maybe you got vsync enabled, that will cap your FPS if the nominal vertical refresh rate can be reached... or reduce it so the video card sweep coincides with the monitor's sweep (sometimes this can be so hard as half the monitor's refresh rate, let's say around 30 FPS). Notice the card power can't prevent it if can't grant FPS up to nominal vertical refresh rate. Edit to complement: some locations in the game are most demanding and taxing on the FPS. Another thing to keep in mind is any tweak or image enhancing mods can lead your machine to the threshold the above issue is triggered.
