I've added some warnings to main page, so people don't make our mistakes.

 

Anyone found out anything about bookshelfs , weapon racks and manequins??

 

These you can place, but they won't work.

 

From what I understand about bookshelves so far is; When you place a static bookshelf all you are placing is the shell, it needs a cell inside it which is an invisible placeholder (Go to a working bookshelf and try to place something in it manually, you will notice it has a invisible wall where the books go,) so, you can do this in TESsnip after finding it with FNVedit as well but it isn't as easy as that sounds either. Every book that you place into a bookshelf has its own little spawn area, so you need to know the exact worldlocation ((X, Y, Z)) of the space where you are wanting to put each individual book, and there is something like 15 in a normal bookshelf.

 

At this point Bookshelves just aren't worth it.. And Mannequins/Weaponracks are kind of the same. Mannequins are NPCs, they need to be referenced with cells to do certain things, they need to activate and be given a stop command so they stop breathing etc like a normal NPC, all this has to be done through TESsnip from what I can tell because there is no way to actually select a cell or node. Weaponracks are pretty much the same situation, you can place a weaponrack and its activator but the weapon gets placed randomly when you mount it because the activator isn't placed directly where the plaque is.

 

Also, just so people know, None of what you do in your game with Console is permanent to your .ESM.. Everything you do in console only saves into your .ESS (save file.) And from what I can tell, a ESS cannot be extracted or manipulated.

There are banners, and they can be spawned. They are in a different category called Moveable Static (MSTT/MATT) But I didn't put them on my website because of how useless they are with console money, you cannot move them once they are placed because you can't even select them. (ex. FormID#D2009.) I figured until that is figured out it is kinda pointless putting them on page. You can try though.. best way is to go into flymode (TFC) and go directly into a wall where u want the flag. If you want more check FNVEdit or i might put them on website.

 

Anyone had any luck placing lightsources? I have spawned candles etc, but those give off very little light, tried to spawn torch sconce and static wall torch, but those just spawned on the floor no matter where and what item.

I was when i first got a torch on the wall it did not give any light, also tried to exit/enter game and leaving the area and come back. i was looking for lightsources, but those might be nearly impossible to place the way you want without a CK.

Anyone tried placing light sources?

 

These are pretty easy actually, first you need to place the candle. I have a bunch on the bottom of the seamcloud here. These give off a small amount of light but if you want some more ambient lighting you need to spawn.

 

Ex.

 

Horn Candle = 1F24A

Light = B215E **Be Warned, Spawning Lighting is permanent and cannot be removed.**

 

It is best to make a test save and test these out till you perfect it because once the lgihting is down, it is down and you cannot get rid of it like a bookshelf. You can find static candles here using CTRL+F to find Candle and lighting for candles in the LIGHT section. **Be Warned, Spawning Lighting is permanent and cannot be removed.**

Okay I hate asking a ton of questions, but.. Is there a way to place and then move an object without getting a remaining invisible object where it was originally placed? Lets say I place a crate. Then I move it to a different spot. There will still be an invisible crate where I initially placed it. Even though a crate isnt an object that you interact with, like the mannequins, or bookshelves. I thought this sort of behavior was restricted to those, but I guess not? Is there a way to place an object at coordinates as opposed to at the player?

 

To fix the invisible item problem, just load a new area then go back, that fixes it for me.

 

Easiest way is to actually type Disable, then Enable after moving all objects. It reloads the object and fixes any bugs like crates/display cases not working or the activation area remaining in the original spot as well as walls and floors not becoming solid. No need to reload the entire cell each time. This also works if you need to rotate the z axis of an object and for some reason the object doesn't seem to rotate.

 

You can spawn items at a specific location which you click on, such as floors or other objects, by typing Placeatme instead of Player.placeatme. The object will have the same exact x, y, and z axis as the object you are placing which can be useful for building a long hallway and ensuring that all the wall and floor tiles line up. For example, once you've got a wall positioned exactly as you like it and want to extend it three square lengths, click the wall and type placeatme wallid. Then you can just move the original wall tile or click on the one you just spawned and adjust either the x or the y axis without worry that the z axis will be out of alignment. Once you've got the new wall tile where you want it, type Disable, then Enable and you're done.

One last trick with mannequins. It is sort of possible to use them now, however there are more than a few issues so just be aware. As has been mentioned, mannequins are NPCs and the ones you spawn with 89a85 will move around and creep you out UNLESS you type TAI, which toggles their AI off and makes them a statue. There is no way to transfer your items to the mannequin but by clicking on the mannequin and typing Additem itemid will place it in the mannequins inventory. Then type equipitem itemid and the mannequin will wear the item, This only works with the AI active, so spawn the items in the mannequin, make it wear it, then toggle the AI off using TAI. You can then move the mannequin using setpos X, Y or Z but you cannot rotate it at all so use another object to get your direction and spawn the mannequin on that. Because the mannequin is a NPC it will not stay in any area that didn't originally exist, so those of us who added floors or extend rooms cannot place the mannequin there because it will just move back to the closest original spot after each cell reload. Additionally, some people have had trouble getting the TAI to not reset, meaning the creepy mannequins will actually be walking around your house wearing all the gear you spawned in it's inventory.

So I'm starting to put a little storage area together in my house. I found a shelf that works great for what I want to do, but it is technically a container. Not a deal breaker or anything, but if I look at the shelf is prompts me to hit E to open. Is there anyway to disable its ability to be used as a container?

 

Also working on some decoration stuff and am wondering if anyone knows how to lock an item in its place, to make it static or something else that would prevent bumping stuff all over after I've placed it.

Unfortuantly i do not know about removing excisting scripts from objects.

But a question, when you say items bouncing around, do you mean the bug where you take an item out of your inventory put it out and when you get back into the house later everything you did is spread out on the floor?

or do you just simply mean that the general coalition of many objects makes them crash into eachother and makes it nearly impossible to stack them without the need to clean up again later?

I had this one with gold bars, saved gold bars for a long time and when i had around 100 i started to stack them against a wall, suddenly when i got back home many weeks after seeing the stack holding all this time, it suddenly decided that they did not like eachother and fell down into a pile, my treasury looked like a grenade victim after that.

Guy's what am I missing with the suspicious Cabinet. I have placed it so I can enter the secret bit downstairs but when I open the doors the wall is still there. If I delete the wall it dissapears from around the door also. There is also no wooden back to the Cabinet that slides? I know i'm being a numpty.

 

Also for the bookshelves you cannot move I have found it easier to find alternative uses for them. Ie the one in the main dining room I have used to stack scaled down Barells. Looks much more like a Kitchen piece then.

Also has anyone noticed that items yuo place like end tables, seem to have a soft surface so you cant put things on them?

Had the same problem. Until the Mod Tools come out, we can't edit the "hole" in the wall. What I have done, is used rugs and carpets to make a "Make Shift" wall. It looks like a banner hanging on the wall. I am posting a Screen Shot with it as such. A bit crude, but one again, Mod Tools!"

Does anyone know how to make an item stay were you put it. ie (Static). I want to stack some things and they keep moving after I place them were i want them. When i come back they are all over the place.

 

If your on about normal inventry items that you drop then its a little buggy. For me what works is to drop the items from my inventry and then exit throug a door, return and then put them where you want them. If you just drop and place more often than not when you leave and return they are exactly where you dropped them.Hope this helps.

 

However there are a few items that will never stay where you put them. I believe if you have telekensis you can tell which items are exempt. Havent tried.

I tried some of the things.. somehow nothing works for me.

For example, I tried to place a tanning rack in my whiterun home, it spawned but it was hanging halfway in the air and nothing I did with setpos and setangle even touched it. Also I can't seem to be able to move anything.

 

Also, for most other items I tried to spawn with player.placeatme, they do not appear anywhere, tried to look under the world with tcl, but they aren't there either.

 

What am I doing wrong?

 

Also I can't remove the apothecary's satchel in the whiterun house, neither disable nor markfordelete are working for me.
