The delay on the CK is a bit disappointing, but none of us really know details on the reasons behind that delay. What does worry me is the Steam Workshop bit. I don't mind Steam in general (despite getting stuck with this last patch that broke my game a great deal), but the user-agreement deal on it isn't very clear on exactly how those mods uploaded are handled. More specifically, if someone makes a mod, uploads it there, then decides to upload it here as well, will that cause issues where Steam decides you have a pirated mod? Similarly, the "you can upload and get a share of any sales" bit also leaves open a more long term issue - will they start charging for mods that we the users have created? I don't mind supporting modders in general, but putting us squarely on that road is not something I think any of us want, especially considering such things WILL come with limitations - like the aforementioned child killing mods as well as possible restrictions on adult content mods. Those kind of mods may not be for everyone, but they *are* popular downloads, and are just as much a part of the modding community as UI overhauls, realism tweaks, and massive texture upgrades.

Let's see what we've got here...

Steam Workshop – We’re excited to share news that we’ve been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button.

Wait what? YOU BETTER NOT MAKE MODS SOME STEAM EXCLUSIVE **** YOU BAS-

Prefer to use existing modding sites? Not a problem. You’ll still be able to upload/share/access Skyrim mods on fan-created mod sites.

Oh. Well ok then. *hugs Nexus Mod Manager*

Just think, once the Creation Kit is out: People we don't know will slave away for countless hours to provide high quality content to us for free, and in return we can badmouth them for supposive issues that arose with the mod when we improperly installed them because we were too lazy to read the instructions properly.

not sure if not serious...

I lol'ed. It's sad but so true

OT: I'll probably just download my mods from -nexus anyway. At least we have an estimated time for CK release, so many things I want to change.

Why is it that whenever I hear the words steam and Skyrim, I invariably hear either bugged, drm or delayed in the same paragraph? If they want to integrate the kit into steam fine but don't piss people off by delaying the damn thing just to add more drm nonsense hidden in a crappy tacked on wannabe mod marketplace. If steam screws up the CK with drm and bugs, someone will have to die.

I wager the CK is being released that far away because it was never made in the first place. :whistling:

And it being tacked onto Steam, well, my second wager is a long long line of problems. :whistling:

Can't wait to see when I (if) am right! :whistling:

You obviously have no idea how games are made.

If they hadn't made it.

1: Skyrim wouldn't be out

2: it would take longer than a month to build.

Now no more trolling, or stop being sarcastic, or read a book. choose a response that is appropriate to the situation.

EDIT: editing to respond to your edit. It's not tacked onto steam, steam is just there for easy access to mods, and the usual steam stuff. :/
