antistar
"Is that an MP5? It is! Now I can solve up to eight hundred problems per minute!" -Gordon Freeman If you implement an MP5,I'd love to see a Unique MP5 named The Freeman. Yes,I am a Freeman's Mind fan. Why do you ask? You know, for a long time I counted the MP5 in Half-Life 1 as having my absolute favourite weapon firing sound. Realising that that was twenty years ago makes me feel old. is there an Estimated Time Of Release for WARS yet? been eagerly waiting since 2016 and ill i see are AMAZING videos of these incredible guns that i cannot download yet! lol its torture! but happy birthday Antistar and i look forward to the day i can finally download WARS! keep up the great work! Thanks. :) And no, it's still as it says in the FAQ in the second post. Once it comes time for the closed beta, that's when I might be able to start estimating a release date. Until then (at the earliest), anything I said would be wrong and just end up annoying everyone.
Radsweeper
Hi Antistar, Happy to know your mod is coming along and that you are updating us regularly. On the subject of Suppressors there is a two part article here that is informative. Half of it deals with legalities and such (which really don't apply to us here) but its a nice primer for anyone wanting to take a stab at them. http://www.theprepperjournal.com/2018/03/30/introduction-silencers-part-1-2/ Hope its useful. Rock on.
antistar
Thanks for the link. The article has kind of an unfortunate tone to it, but there was some interesting info in there. As predicted, I didn't get much time to work on the mod over the long weekend, but work continues on the Thompson. Sgtbarney's meshes are quite accurate to the real thing, but lacked internals - beyond the bolt. It's pretty easy to see into the receiver via the mag-well and ejection port, so I'm modelling parts of the receiver interior. It's not going to be perfectly accurate - because it doesn't need to be - but it does need to have something there or you'll just be seeing gaps in the geometry. Also, the model is of an M1A1 (which only accepts stick mags - not drums), so I've added horizontal slots to the mag-well as on earlier Thompson models so that it can somewhat more believably take drum mags too. (If you're keeping track then yes, that means that Bethsoft have it backwards in the vanilla game; an M1A1 that accepts drums and not stick mags.) I also went back and changed the weight values for the Sledgehammer "Heavy Head" weapon mods, after I noticed that the nif file for the straight Heavy head had "cinderblock" in the title. Previously I'd thought it was solid metal because with the textures/material they used, it kind of looks like that at a glance. Upon closer inspection though... So yes, the heavy head is concrete and around five times the volume of the standard head, not metal and three times the size, like I'd roughly estimated earlier. After looking up a concrete "weight by volume" converter online and rounding up the result to account for the metal reinforcing bands around the concrete, the Heavy head is now 30 lb rather than 48 lb: ***Sledgehammer*** Handle 2.18 Heads: Standard 16 Puncturing 19.2 Heavy 30 (26.53 for concrete, rounded up to 30 to account for metal reinforcement bands) Heavy Spiked 33.2 (Heavy head + 6x0.5 for railroad spikes + 0.2 est for mounting brackets) Heavy Sharp 31.38 (Heavy head + 8x0.01 for nails, 0.26 for 1m barbed wire, 2x0.52 for 2 circular saw blades) Heavy Rocket 34.2 (Heavy head + 4.2 est for single rocket plus mount) Heavy Sharp Rocket 35.58 (30 + 1.38 + 4.2) Heavy Spiked Rocket 37.4 (30 + 3.2 + 4.2) Heavy Searing Sharp Rocket 36.88 (30 + 1.3 for heated coil + 1.38 + 4.2) Heavy Shock Sharp Rocket 37.08 (30 + 1.5 for electrical coil + 1.38 + 4.2)
krillkongen
Satajo released a pretty neat mod for the Handmade Rifle a while back, might be something for WARS; https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28289
antistar
I'll keep it in mind, but it's a fairly minor thing and the Handmade AKM looks crappy one way or the other. Mostly intentionally, I'd say. Seeing DeadPool2099's full wooden stock in the pictures there reminds me, though; thanks to his generous permission, I've incorporated that into WARS too. Can't remember if I mentioned that before. As a general update: Most of the modelling required for the Thompson is done now. Sgtbarney included a Type L (50 round) drum mag model but not a Type C (100 round) drum, so I adapted the Type L into a Type C. Not quite as simple as just scaling it up, unfortunately. ;) I could still re-use most of the details however, so it wasn't too bad. Right now I'm whipping up a Nydar Gun Sight to be used as the Thompson's reflex sight. Much more fitting than either the standard vanilla reflex sight or sticking an EOTech or whatever on there. Once it's finished I'll almost certainly put it on the Double-Barrel Shotgun as well (again replacing the vanilla reflex sight) - shotguns are what these Nydar sights were originally made for, after all. Also, Hitman just sent me new animations for the Mini-14, including three-round-burst fire anims, so now the AC-556 variants can properly cycle through semi-auto, three-round-burst and full-auto fire modes. TheREALHummingBeard
i might be able to contribute with a Cheytac M200 Model. :) if you'r interested. :) spent about 1 year on the model. lots of stuff needed to be done tho. but details are (mostly) all there. :D send me a PM if you want it. :) i'll gladly give it to you for some credits in the mod description. :) PS: textures and animations MUST be made for it. i suck at texturing and animating... kuzi127
Those animations tho... Seeing the new stuff in action makes me really excited for the mod. The reload for that is ambiguous enough IMO that it could easily represent the normal STANAG magazines or the AK style Mini-30 mags.

I replied to your PM about this, so I'll just copy-paste what I said in here: I appreciate the offer, but finishing off a weapon from that kind of state is still quite a lot of work, and I wasn't planning on including an M200 Intervention, so... I'd be unlikely to ever have time for that, sorry! In the past when people have offered/asked for stuff like this and I haven't thought I'd get to it in a timely fashion - if at all - I've suggested that they consider putting it on FO4 Nexus as a modder's resource, as then it would be easy for someone else to pick it up and implement it if they wanted to. Those animations tho... Seeing the new stuff in action makes me really excited for the mod. The reload for that is ambiguous enough IMO that it could easily represent the normal STANAG magazines or the AK style Mini-30 mags. They are nice. :) I am still thinking of making the Mini-30 an option via a calibre-conversion weapon mod, but it probably wouldn't visibly be using AK mags; just the usual mags. TacticalOchoa
I'm really liking all the new animations that Hitman has been showcasing for WARS. Looks pretty neat. Not really much of a fan of the Mini-14 using the Combat Rifle's sounds but unless you do plan to change those sounds, it's something that I can get used to. Didn't you say that you're going to implement a durability system for the weapons in the mod? This mod introducing the L85 intrigues me; especially since after I watched the L85 video on Forgotten Weapons. It makes me wonder on how you plan to have it perform in the mod.
