[WIPz] Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE64)

Recommended Posts

Way too much optimism on here about what the SKSE64 team are "doing". On a balance of evidence, it is fair to conclude they are doing nothing.

Two most informed posters so far are Schlangster on March 21, 2017:

I don't think there has been progress since December. Which is not unsual BTW. Work is usually done in bursts with months of inactivity in between, and more or less autonomously.

My comment regarding whether there would be SkyUI 5 for SE was: "I don't know, but I think it's unlikely." It was just my realistic assessment based on experiences of the last 10 years, and if you go by that, you should assume that it's not going to happen (and be positively surprised if it turns out I was wrong).

And EnaiSiaion on March 27, 2017:

I just accepted that it's not going to happen.

Given the choice between an unstable Oldrim and hobbled Newrim, I went with neither.

Bottom line is that behippo (aka xxxxxx) was the person who posted the video on December 28, 2016 at silverlock.org. He was the one working on it, not the others. The "team" apparently does not even talk to each other. We have not heard from Stephenxxxx for 4 months now, not even a one sentence update.

The project is abandoned by the current team. That is the only reasonable conclusion.

Exactly.

Edit by zcul: quote edited as it contained alleged real life name and location of an author.

You guys are getting too pathetic over this. They go radio silent for a few weeks and you immediately act like the world is ending.

SE is perfectly fine to play without SKSE64 right now.

Many popular mods have done workarounds for the lack of SKSE64.

Resorting to posting the names and other personal information is totally uncalled for.

Please just close this topic, all the assumptions, crying and complaints are just ridiculous. People are just whining that they want the SKSE64 and they want it now, and that if it's not released now is because it will never happen and the project is dead. Pathetic and childish.

Just close this lame excuse for a whining.

An update every few days? Once every other week? That's insane. What should they say? I can image the updates: "Still working on it", "Still working on it", "Still working on it". "Yup, still working on it". This is coding guys, it's not a sexy show they can stream like the Skyblivion team does. It's a bunch of guys in front of a pc writing codes.

There are many software projects where developers communicate with the public regularly. Some daily even.

Nobody has a right to dictate how it has to be done or anything. But, I think that it's valid to look at a change in communication as a piece of the puzzle.

I don't really remember which one it is, but in one of the live streams of DDProductions some members of the script extender team did an appearance during the stream and talk about how they work and why they work this way. There are two very long live streams (Subdivided in more videos), I suggest you to listen to both of them, since they are ilarious.

Thank you. Will check that out.

This seems to confirm what I was saying before. That SKSE64 really could be done more quickly than many realize. It just needs someone with more time to put into it.

I haven't seen anyone acting like the world is ending. I've seen people looking for a solution forward.

I don't have any hard feelings toward anyone. If someone doesn't have time, I would just hope to recognize it and move on to another solution.

And I'm pretty sure that I've seen the posters "named" name each other already. That info had already been publicized.

Looking for a solution is not crying or whining.

The good news is that there is now activity on F4SE. Assuming that works out. I'm probably just never going to build the mods I was planning for SE. On to FO4...

I wish it was here, but wish in one hand and S--- in the other and see which one fills up first. All the complaining will get us no where. If the team has broken up though the best thing they could do is recruit the best modders out there who know code to help out. I'm sure some of them would jump at the chance to get involved in it. If I knew code I'd do it in a heartbeat. If its about some ones pride in being the one to make it Grow Up. What I think is Job and family life probably have a lot to do with it not being out. When it was announced that it would come out mid March, for two weeks after the 16th I was looking for it than I told myself I was being stupid and getting myself worked up over a little thing such as this. I know we do need it for mods and it is the best tool out there for those mods but its not coming until its finished. By the way have you looked at your hands to see which one filled first? Posted by a nobody.

Yes F4SE is getting some attention and more than SKSE. And people people, just because there is no SKSE64, doesn't make Skyrim unmoddable.. you don't always need to create scripts. Papyrus is just a wanna-be C++ embedded in a totally flawed game engine.

Thread has been reported. Not cool to expose real name and location.

Well, all their names is displayed on their sites.

Posting identity information without permission is both dangerous and stupid. Don't do it again - TVD.

No offense but I think you just agree with those guys because they are well known, but are likely speculating like the rest of us. Though in schlangster's case he has worked a bit closer with the team for obvious reasons.

But... you can say work for SKSE on Oldrim stopped a little over 2 years ago. Indeed they were more active during the days of OBSE, but that time has passed.

Flowergirls work pretty well with amorous adventures. very roleplay and immersive. We only need bouncing boobs now.
