MMORPG Virgin requests advice

Both, really.

There is a recruitment forum, and an in-game recruitment channel (wouldn't recommend the channel as it gets spammed with copy/paste recruitment messages, though), and a lot of corps will have a note in their corp description about public channels you can join, people to contact for recruitment etc. You could also just talk to people in local, to find out what corporations are active in your area. Some corporations, however, are invite only, or require you to be recommended and vouched for by existing members.

Corps which are actively recruiting sometimes announce this in local, usually with a very brief description of the kinds of players they are looking for, and how to get in touch. If you've been staying in an area for a while and get noticed, a corp might also approach you directly.

If you know other players it might be worth asking them for recommendations.

Before you join, find out what the corp expects of you - and what the corp tax is - and what they have to offer you. If you're a new player, being in a corp full of 60mil + skillpoints cap pilots might not be as much fun for you. And if you can't stand mining, a corp that has daily mandatory mining ops might not be for you.

Hello all, I played EVE online for about 3 months over a year ago. Really awesome game for people like me that love endlessly expansive game worlds, but I had to give it up when my daughter was born (no pause button). I recommend it though for anyone with a love for real time strategy as this game goes way beyond any other online RTS game.

Theta, any chance of updating the link in your sig, sure would like to take a look.

Like I mentioned earlier Chesto, if you're a new player, the best corp you can start with is EVE University. Not only are we dedicated to helping new players, but we have good links with a large variety of other corporations, who like recruiting from our ranks, and even if none of those corps are for you, having EUNI in your employment history is always good - we have a lot of respect in the community, and plenty of corps prefer uni graduates over other players. :)

Anyway, if you ever need any help at all, evemail me - my character name is Jonan Amraphenson. :)

Chesto, have a look at the Kingdom of Loathing. I have a feeling that it would work well with your sense of humour.

It's free, and can be played while doing other stuff.

Am I really as transparent as that!? Had a shallow look. Yes. Can see the appeal. Definitely. Do you play, Ab...?

Many thanks for the suggestion. Would not have found it by myself. As, I can never find anything by myself.

Have started playing EVE, finally. And, for anyone who has yet to guess ... or even cares, I AM the Steppen Lemming!

Am enjoying being lost in yet another space... Space... immensely! I'm supremely impressed with the thought and skill which has gone into producing EVE. It would seem to be a game that one could play for...ever. That, at least , is how long it will take me to get the hang of it , and to progress to a suitably high level of skill, etc.. Not a game for the short of attention span. But... one's short comings are there to be overcome. And , with the help of the friends I've made already on EVE, I shall manfully strive - as in ' boldly go ' - to progress.

I unreservedly recommend EVE to anyone who has issues with hypertension but enjoys pushing at the envelope. Nobody gets out of life alive!

I myself have been playing EVE for a little over 2 years. Have to say I have found no game as fun as this one (and i have played probobly every mmo). The sheer scope of EVE and the community make it a truely awesome game.

Its taken me quit a bit of time to build up my character, but as it stands if I had the money right now I could fly a titan very very quickly. Have been working my way to the capital ships for a long time and im finally there. Im more of a soloist myself, i have larned to pad my isk by mining large quantities of ore and selling it but its just not as good as high level missions. I have been in a couple of corps, but they were too carebearish for me. So, im back to the solo play but EVE is a blast.

If you havent at least tried it, your missing out.

Aye, I use Abramul for my KoL name as well. Been playing for less than a year, or at least 4 years, depending how you count it. Drifted away while waiting for Ascension to be implemented.

Think I'll try EVE out, too. An actual MMORPG is rare indeed. Looks like the download will take a few hours...

P.S. Is it possible to fire a Titan's weapon in 1.0?
