So, Do you play FO4 as a male or female?

Oh I have been using LooksMenu extensively. I have three presets saved for my char right now and about four or five for npcs. I try to change almost every character's face in the game. It is interesting that you can change bodies in game like that though. Would you mind giving a little tutorial on how to do that? How are you attaching body files to a ring? Is it as easy as using BodySlide to do it? One thing that troubles me when swapping bodies is that the hand and feet meshes will sometimes have gaps. How do you fix this? Another thing I would like to do is extend the range of the LooksMenu body triangle. Any ideas?

These are two of my female char right now;https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/1151/37130830-1492824060.jpg

Sorry about the quality. I'm trying to upgrade some time this year. There is a mod you must use to make your PC have a unique body. I wonder if this same approach could be used to make custom bodies for other npcs? Like a custom body for Cait or Danse. The problem with that is that you would need to custom fit clothing and armor for each. Still it would be cool! :D I actually had this idea last night that it would be so cool to design clothing and armor that adapted to each body type. Granted anything like that would be difficult. But just think of how cool it would be to put on a piece of clothing on ANY body type and just have it fit. More thinking on this has led me to believe that if somehow the bodyslide functionality were tied into the game this would be possible. Like BodySlide morphs in Sky- only applied to armor and clothing. Even just a set of pre-built meshes would work sort of. Say like 4-5 prebuilt sizes of each clothing or armor mesh for the game to recognize and use with 4-5 basic body types. Does anyone else think this might be cool and could work?

Pardon for the slow reply, let's just say it is not the easiest thing on Nexus forum to see if someone replied to your comments. I think we are talking about 2 different things here and let's not get things mixed up.

Change body using triangle. There is a mod that extends the effect of Triangle, I tried it, but it is NOT the best result because ... just try extending sliders in Bodyslide to 300% ... most don't look good. Solution: Looksmenu.

- Looksmenu has CBBE bodyslide built-in (or rather, CBBE author made available) so you have a good selection of sliders.

- Each setting is saved for individual character and the outfits also change accordingly too. Very magical.

- Limitation: Sliders can only add, not subtract value (will go higher, not lower).

Example usage: I build a standard CBBE body preset at 20% breast. All CBBE outfits I built will look natural to this 20% breast standard body (it doesnt have to be 20% breast per outfit). So default NPC will have 20% breast. SLM Piper and add 50% breast to her. Then her nude body will look like 20+50=70% breast. All the outfit she wears will reflect her 70% breast. Plain English, her breasts look obviously bigger even in outfits than NPC wearing the same outfit (even at the same weight). Limitation is the outfit has to be CBBE and built with Bodyslide with Build Morph checked, but it's easy to convert all clothing to CBBE and batch build. You can do the same thing with thigh, arm, .... and 30 + sliders in Looksmenu. Yeah, you can now make someone pregnant if you want to. This looks WAY better than just messing with the triangle.

So far only works for CBBE body (female). I tried with developing the Looksmenu slides for Super Hero body (SHB) but not successful yet. Btw, in case you don't know, both male and female bodies are customizable via Bodyslide now. Especially with naked guys flaccid mode, I can literately make the guys' penises how long and short as I want (but only circumcised so far). Only if I can get the sliders to work in Looksmenu.

Swapping bodies is impossible because of texture misalignment. And it is extremely complex to write scripts that dynamically change skin texture on the run. Too much work and no reward because 99% of outfits out there are CBBE compatible. However, I have been working for a way around it. It is not exactly dynamic... but it works. For nude bodies, the ring is like Armorsmith's ring, you literately WEAR someone else's entire body (and NPC no longer think you are naked). Like "One ring to nude Piper" is literately letting you wear what Piper naked skin (if you have Unique Followers mod). I created 2-3 more rings for myself, like Ring for Janebod, ring for EVB, etc... just to test out and admire these bodies (even I don't use them as default). Of course this is limited to nude body (that you see when character is completely naked).

There is also workaround for non CBBE clothes. We would need to modify the outfits to point to custom skin instead of the character's skin. So the whole outfit, including the skin part (with skin material) is part of the outfit now. This is an example: www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11521/?

Limitation is, anything you have on the character ... sweaty, oily skin (spec), any tattoo, blemishes, wounds, dirt ... will not show up. I also modified Zip suit to have custom clean skin so everyone wearing a zip suit will (supposedly have a shower first) to have clean skin.

To me it feels that i have more freedome for lore with Nora than with Nate.

Basicly refering to the intro movie, which states that Nate was/is in the army, as preparing for his speech when we join...

For Nora, I'd bet some didnt even catch that she's a lawyer, but thats what i ment, its less obvious, so one can easier apply one owns lore.

TBH, Nate is IMHO as much a mystery. He's a supposed veteran soldier... who has NO combat skills whatsoever. It's like he never got more than the most basic training, if even that.

I'd even be inclined to think that he faked his military record -- and yes, there are people who do that -- if not for the fact that the lookout actually finds his military record.

If anything, I'm MORE inclined to treat my male characters as a prototype Gen 4 courser with only some minimal pre-war memories and left to learn everything from scratch.

Yeah, a veteran without any rifle, gun, or automatic weapon experience, cmon... I mean we're not talking about energy or laser - just yet...

For that reason i've started my 'start' scripts, you know, like in FO1/2/3, where you had like 3 perks to set.

And my synth start scripts, for the 4th and 5th playthrough

This is real simple for me.

I play the sex that i find more sexually attractive at the time. So, times male, sometimes female.

Currently, i'm running a girl.

I just got the game less than a month ago on PC, and there's just an ocean of sexy female mods as opposed to consoles. So i've been enjoying that. My girl has acquired quite the sizable Skank Squad by now, too. Female companion mods, i mean. So far, my favorite is Heather.

Also, i love seeing my sex kick ass. So, maybe it's a bit of living vicariously through her that i enjoy.

Heather is definitely a credit to her sex. I do wish she would have more pet names for the player rather than "General". Maybe something like Blue, or Pumpkin, or Honey. Perhaps she could offer a menu of pet names and let the player choose the ones to be called, sort of like how Vilja does it in Skyrim. It is good to have at least one companion for Fallout 4 will all the bells and whistles that go beyond anything offered by Bethesda.

Woah there. I stil don't enjoy ANY companion, modded or basegame, as much as i like Hancock. But, Heather does ring in as a close Second.

My favorite thing about Hancock, is his thoughts. No other companion comes close to the sheer number of dialogue thoughts Hancock has. And his dialogue is actually interesting. Not blisteringly goody-goody. And this is something Modded companions particularly fail at. That's Heather's biggest, only negative mark.

However, R404 actually does the idle thoughts very well. She's 3rd in line on my slutbrigade. The way she comments based on decisions you make after quests is really something special.

In the game itself Nate is described as a decorated war hero. Doesn't really sound like someone who has no combat skills to me.

Well, that's the problem, really. He's described as a decorated war hero, but if you actually open his skill chart, he doesn't actually have the skills you'd expect. I mean, you can get experience for at least one level of a combat skill by the time you're done with concord. Which is to say, in a day. He's got none. Doesn't really sound like someone who's got much combat experiuence on the front line.

Nor any technical skills one muight actually learn in the army, for that matter. We're no longer in the age of conscripted spearmen. The army has a lot of technical or support roles, in addition to a lot of combat specialists.

ESPECIALLY in an infantry regiment, hell, more than half the soldiers have some specialist role, be it designated marksman, or the LMG guy, or operating a recoilless gun, or SOMETHING. Plus the technical guys, logistics guys, etc. Even by sheer chance alone, Nate should have learned SOME skill.

Unless he actually wasn't an infantry guy at all, I guess. We know he was attached to an infantry regiment, but we don't really know in what role. For all we know, he could have been some war reporter, or whatever. Gets shot after a couple of days, comes back with a Purple Heart, explains the decorated hero part.

That or he really is an experimental synth replacement for the actual war hero.

Right now I have Heather paired with Audrey. Take seems to be a good balance in personalities. Heather and R4-04 spent some time together in Nuka World right after I was able to get Gage's perk. It is never a sad moment to wake up in bed with both Heather and R4-04.
