daekness
In Skyrim I've noticed that sneaking with a companion can sometimes if not mostly be annoying. Even if they have enchanted items which muffle their sound they will mostly go psycho on the enemy even though you're were barely detected(sneaking eye barely open). I think if they made the companions wait to attack until the eye is fully open it would be much better. What do you think about sneaking with companions? sajuukkhar9000
You shouldn't be sneaking with companions. If you HAVE to, use Aela, she has a 97 sneak skill, Cicero is the only person with a higher one with a 100 skill, but he has a significantly lower health level. Everyone else has at max like a 75 skill. I have been able to sneak kill a couple people with Aela but once you start attacking they don't stop. Also you have to be level 50 for Aela skill to be at 97. Edited January 17, 2012 by sajuukkhar9000
BarefootWarrior
Sneaking with Lydia is impossible, don't even try or with a dog. First sign of a fight and they are off, plus Lydia's armor is always clanking. But, to my surprise, I can sneak with Vorstag. He is quite good at it and does nothing until I get things started or unless someone comes up behind us. Until then, he waits quietly for me and it has worked out quite well. Krawll
Although i'm sure it's not impossible to sneak with companions, i would personnaly not recommend it . When i decided to turn my Death Knight into an assassin , i disbanded my follower and killed my undead thrall. Even though there has been situations where i was forced to fight and having a follower would've made things easier for me, most of the time i can manage to just dissapear and let my ennemies search for me untill they just give up, allowing me to start picking them off one by one like assassins normaly do. The fact that experienced assassins can basicly kill any ennemies in one hit kinda makes having a follower more of a nuisance than anything else. As far as their carrying capacity, if you spend a few perk points in the pickpocket skill tree, you'll have your own carrying capacity greatly increased rendering your followers even more useless. And well , i know this would not be the case for every assassins out there but since my character used to be a Death Knight , meaning he was great at summoning and raising the dead, whenever i realy desperatly need a helper, i can simply summon one , although i have to say that so far it only hapenned once and that was in the begining of my assassin's carreer when i was still rather easy to detect . Once you become good at sneaking , you should be perfectly fine on your own. But as i said in the begining, i'm sure it's not impossible to be a successful assassin with a companion , i simply do not think they're necessary , therefore i wouldn't recommend it . ManleySteele
As someone who plays a warrior type, I find that sneaking with a companion is only limited if you really, really need to sneak. In those cases, I just park my companion far enough away that I can sneak until it's not germaine anymore. I then go get my companion and continue on my way. I also do this for hard boss fights, where it is all too easy to kill your follower. The more opponents, the more likely I am to leave my follower out of the action. I guess that makes my followers glorified, talking mules, but I like glorified talking mules. At least they don't bark constantly. As for Lydia, in my opinion, she is far from an ideal follower. Her armor is too weak and she doesn't like an upgrade in type. When you do upgrade, then all the weight of her new armor comes out of her carrying capacity. A weak mule, indeed. You can put rings, necklaces or boots of loading on her, but she will remove them at the first opportunity. Oh to have my hands around the neck of the designer who thought that was a good idea. lol
BaronofHe11
What I did was leave my companion back a ways so they wouldn't screw up my sneaking. If my sneak failed I could always run back to my companion for them to deal with.
Krawll
What I did was leave my companion back a ways so they wouldn't screw up my sneaking. If my sneak failed I could always run back to my companion for them to deal with. Thats one of the ways to deal with being detected but for me , using the invisibility spell seems to be the way to go . I managed to assassinate every single guards in Markarth twice lol . I had a job to do in Markarth and well , let's just say that i have a realy bad reputation in that town and a REALY high bounty on my head . So anyways , i fast travel there and of course all the guards came running and tried to arrest me . I of course resist the arrest , they all start attacking me as expected . But before anyone managed to strike me , i poofed out of existance ( Invisibility) , i ran to a rather calm spot and waited for them to give up . Then i came out found a guard that was alone and shot him in the back , waited for the eye to completly close again and shot the same guard again , he died . Then i simply repeated the process untill all guards were dead . I did get detected a few times but then i would simply dissapear again . It was actualy LOTS of fun and a very challenging experience which could've never been achieved with a follower . Now i'm not saying that clearing a town of all it's guards is impossible with a follower . Of course it's possible but not if you wish to ( Assassinate) them one by one. (Ninja style) hehe :P

First sign of a fight and they are off, plus Lydia's armor is always clanking. Lydia also coughs a lot and makes a noise if you bump into her  I have thought of asking her to wait from a distance, but if I run back to her with an enemy ... will she automatically attack or do I have to ask her to follow me again? katling
To be honest, even Brynjolf and Karliah weren't that great at sneaking and they're supposed to be master thieves! When I had them with me I spent a lot of time doing this :wallbash: as we were attempting sneak around in various places. I like to snipe my way through and as soon as I'd snipe one Falmer, Brynjolf in particular would go charging forward. Just as well I adore his accent or I'd have gotten very cranky with him.
