@aesima: Wow, thanks. :) Glad to hear you're enjoying him so much. AD isn't my only mod, but it's my main project. Check back in December for the next version, which will add hundreds of new lines of dialogue, the beginning of Atvir's questline, original music, and new follower mechanics.

December eh? Can I hope then that come December we won't lose all progress with Atvir every update as well?

As much as I love the thought of Atvir I've been holding off on actually playing for a few reasons mainly most of my characters are entirely unsuitable (evil, Argonians, Khajiiti) but I think I've finally pulled the right character up from my Mw days for him: a Bosmeri former Grandmaster of the Morag-Tong, I think she's grieved enough for her Nord husband and adopted children. However, I kinda don't want to put her through the trauma of me constantly reinstalling Atvir and all progress being lost :ohdear:

A fresh install of AD will be recommended for the coming update, but won't be absolutely necessary. I'm also hoping that that will be the last time it will be required. It mostly comes down to whether or not I have time to implement the beginning stages of the relationship and empathy counter mechanics. If I don't, then some players might find it impossible to activate rival mode, or initiate Atvir's romance, without starting from a clean save.

That said, I suspect that I will have time to implement them before the December release. Everything's on track at the moment.

I have enjoyed Atvirs company.. I'm defininately looking forward to the nect release!

Having played with Vilja for a few days I have to say that in terms of character and backstory I much prefer Atvir. The proposed future quest sounds very good to me.

Yay! Thanks for the info Janus, you're always so prompt with info

You're welcome! Glad to be of assistance.

I haven't had time to really delve into Vilja yet, but based on what I've seen so far (as well as the countless hours I spent accompanying her predecessor in Cyrodiil) she's a real sweetheart. Considering how two-dimensional the vanilla followers are, the game really needed someone lovable, and Vilja fits that role perfectly. Back when the game was first released, I contacted Emma for tips on follower creation, and learned that she was working on a new version of Vilja for TES V. With that in mind, I designed Atvir to stand in stark contrast to her gentle personality.

In any game with parties and/or followers, we're all bound to have our favourite characters. However, I think the real joy and depth comes from experiencing a wide range of personalities. That's why I recommend anyone who enjoys Atvir to also download Vilja, Ceri, ESF Aela, and (though I've yet to try them myself) Valfar and Odvar the Afflicted. I'm sure that there are others out there, or in development, who are equally interesting.

That said... thank you! I enjoy working on Atvir (especially his story, evolving personality, and voice), and I'm really glad that other users appreciate the effort.

Hey Janus. I've been following this thread ever since I learned of Atvir. I haven't been able to play with him yet as I'm currently waiting on a gaming rig to come in. But, I love what I've seen so far. Let me give you a bit of a backstory on my character before I ask my question.

My main char is a member of House Redoran. He's almost 280 years old by the time Skyrim comes around and he's been through a LOT. The fall of Dagoth Ur and the Blight, the Oblivion Crisis and the almost utter destruction of House Redoran during and after the Gates opened, the Red Year, the Second Arnesian war, then some wandering, then the Great War, and finally getting caught crossing the border from Pale Pass.

Anyways, I was wondering if Atvir recognizes other Dunmer, (perhaps with a GetPlayerRace function?) and if so, are there any choices for me to pick from? I would really like to say, "Oh, I used to be in House Redoran" or something and he gives a response. Seeing as how he's from House Dres, I can only imagine what that would be.

Also, I know a lot of the lore concerning Morrowind and the Great Houses will be revealed in the Dragonborn DLC. (I saw House Redoran armor and houses!) :woot: But I was wondering if you were thinking of adding any throwbacks to us old Morrowind players.

I have tried Odvar, hes got a very, very good voice actor but fairly small dialogue base right now, at least so far as I've travelled with him, Vilja kind of took over half way through. I really hope all three of you add inter-character chat in the future. I can already imagine Atvir trying to come to terms with Viljas caring personality lol. Of course Odvar is one of the afflicted, I can imagine him meeting Vilja would be an incredible cross-mod interaction.

That's already done, actually. In the December update, Dunmer players will get to pick from the following options:

-No house

-Hlaalu

-Redoran

-Telvanni

-Indoril

-Lost cousin of Dres

-Ashlander

However, as of the next update, the Dres are the only ones who will get some unique dialogue outside of the introductory quest. I'll probably add a few lines of banter referring to the other potential Houses at a later date, but I haven't had time to get to that yet.
