Deleted54170User
If we have to have a game site where we buy digital downloads, a place where mods are leaking out of the dungeon walls, and we all love this site so much, why not make a site...one connected to this one so we can buy our digital games from them and have a direct link to Nexusmods too. So instead of STEAM, we would have NEXUSGAMES when we sign in to play Skyrim orig, or Skyrim: Special: or for that matter any games for any one, of the THOUSANDS of mods for the Games here and more that are being made and uploaded here @ NEXUSMods.com.STEAM is linked to mods from Bethesda.net. (Cut out STEAM) Link all mods sites to Nexusmods and Bethesda.net as a tribute to all the modders who have modded from day one and too to present and future modders. No sneaky business then; because all the mods would be accessible from both sites, and, no mods that are here would have to be ported. I think Ported is what the word is? A nexus is a connection or series of connections linking two or more things. A GRAND CENTRAL GAMERS MODDING STATION.
Ethreon
I don't think you understand the undertaking of what that would mean.
Deleted54170User
Oh! I understand. I've been playing around with the ideas for over 25 years. I've studied the insides of what Google is made of before Google put a bunch of their SERVERS on a floating barge. I was digging around in libraries with a little 200 baud phone line looking for Ralph Waldo Emerson's words in 1982. I know what it would take. PEOPLE...A LOT OF PEOPLE. I wonder if I put the old thinky cap thing on if I could figure out that old software which could find out if a friend of ours is a friend of a friend who is a friend of someone in just a search through six friends connected that one is connected and knows one FAMOUS Band Singer. 6 BILLION people see the rockers once a year. How bad would that be if one of them big Rockers endorsed an idea they got from that friend of Friends? An idea like, How about we move into the future you could rise to the top of the charts AGAIN. by just having a nice concert with a group of bands to Rock in on a fund raiser for NEXUS GAMES? Hmm? Who would like to make the movie back in their old Stomping grounds and have a visit? Hmm? Ethreon you've raise a note. Can you sing a song? Or maybe! Just maybe...you've got a friend. :geek: :D
Rabbit1251
This is a great idea!! Only it sounds like you are the most qualified to handle such a site. Sign me up now and I'll be your first customer!! The only little wrinkle is that under Bethesda's User Account rules you are forbidden to charge people for making mods. Well, everyone except Bethesda, of course. And "ported" isn't the correct word, it's "stolen". And Bethesda spent a lot of their time ignoring that. I think that your issue is that modding is a "hobby" and you want to run it like a business. Bethesda tried it before and within weeks it all came crashing down. And that was not only due to the business part but the users ran amok with it, as well. Issues like this just make me want to bail out of the hobby. Deleted54170User
Now about feeding those who don't have any talent in them, except the talent but to bully those who worked hard to get their lunch money. The modders stood up to them. The modders fought back. It's time the modders take control. It's time to set the rules in place for the path along the course modders have taken. Modders Rule There. There should be Modders Rules. It is time for them to understand they made their place, mark, and now they only have to set a course to the future the way they see fit to build along the path way they opened. Ethreon
It's time you stop. The usefulness of this idea died the moment it was born.
Deleted54170User
If a thought, is like seed, and is planted in good minds it will be given attention, be cared for, nurtured, and protected forever. Mods are those thoughts. Thoughtful people will always add more to the good ideas that they find someone started and pick up where the other left off before the others words were halted by the corrupt forces in the pool of wisdom. Stop? To latelad I already shared.
Arthmoor
The absolute best that could ever come of this is Nexus becoming a key reseller for Steam games. The game publishers are not going to embrace an entirely new venture the way you seem to think. It's already hard enough to convince them to play along wit GoG.com, getting them on board with yet another service requiring yet another client simply isn't going to happen. The reality, as unfortunate as it is, is that Steam dominates digital distribution and most publishers are entirely ok with this even though it's not the most consumer friendly option. Deleted54170User
Thanks for making it clearer about what I was thinking. That's exactly what I would expect an educated, in the area of your expertise, person to describe my thinking. Thank you. I am glad to see you provided the information and guessed accurately about what I am implying. I also like the way you offered up a plate which explains what the businesses presently are held together with, i.e., People using the Internet to support more people using the Internet. Modders now will have little surfing to do, to figure out how better to protect their stock of mods, this afternoon if they want to make another wave, and surf back to shore in time for their global game play at, ESO. Modders can defend their property the best, by not sharing them with anyone, except, maybe, their immediate family and tell their children, that their friends, they had over for dinner, cannot, may not, have a copy of the mod. NO! NOT HAPPENING! Or get with the other modders to find a way to make it so we all enjoy the freedoms at Nexusmods and still have a right to brag about or show off the mods some of the people make here. Some mods that ordinary people about to bloom into artists made that other ordinary people would put a blue ribbon on at the Fair. Be advised I am not referring to the rich ordinary people who run the Fair. I'm talking about the ordinary people who would play with the strangest to the most wondrous mods ever to make a person want to tell someone the story they played while playing a game on their video game machine. ESO: MORROWIND. Coming Soon!
TLymond
You lost me at, "... guessed accurately about what I'm implying" since you seem to to be trying to dismiss the previous post with doubletalk about how modders and players should behave, not how they do behave.
