HeyYou
"Kim is just performing his famous shakedown for funds, as always... poor China." This. As for poor China, the term is mutually exclusive. Thanks to Richard Nixon they've managed to steal much of the Western world's economy. IMO North Korea is their monster to handle. If only they would, we would all be better off...... China and Russia are the folks that have the power to neutralize lil kim, without endangering millions in SK...... Question becomes, will they? Fkemman11
Lets be honest. This is a show of force as much to impress China as it is to try and intimidate the NKs. China has been VERY aggresive in the Pacific- building fortified islands in the South- China Sea and building up its military which was already frighteningly large. In case no one understands this, the Chinese are definitly up to something. They have positioned themselves to take on the US and her allies and have stated several times that any aggression by the US against NK could have "dire consequences". This sounds almost like they are telling the US to back off or else. Throw in the wilely Russians and you have all the pieces nessesary for some major fireworks. Not many (if any) will survive another WW!!!
TheMastersSon
The only people who can solve our China problem are those who caused it in the first place: our federal government. Nixon sent Kissinger in secret to Beijing, the Chinese (and other countries) responded by sending "influence peddlers" to the White House during Nixon's and Reagan's terms. Read Tim Weiner's book on the history of our FBI for more details. This is not wild conspiracy theory, it's established history.

Secondly, are not all foreign and domestic lobbyists influence peddlers?..it's actually the definition of their job. Is it that they are foreign as opposed to the run of the mill sleazy domestic ones? Lastly, If the federal government could unilaterally fix this then why in your view have they not done so? Aurielius
Another raise in the game of high stakes missile poker. THAAD has gone operational in SK. The trick to playing 'chicken'..is knowing when to be one. http://i1.wp.com/blackholezoo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/THAAD-missile-system-jpg.jpg?fit=640%2C421
Fkemman11
The Trumpident doesn't care if he gets us in another clusterfuk. He and Congress can sit back and watch while they throw SK and anyone else for that matter into major conflict with NK and possibly China. If things get really bad they will still be safe while the ordinary citizen is doomed. When you put someone who was already maniacal in office with the most powerful paper military in the world then what the hell do you expect. I feel really sorry for the people living there and the Americans stationed there as well.

Sure, we could 'negotiate' with them some more, and they might be good for a year or two, after they get some concessions, but then, they go right back to the same old behavior of belligerence, and grandstanding. So, why should we even bother? Shall we kick the can down the road another couple years? Give NK more time to develop their nuclear and missile programs? Do we wait for them to have deliverable nukes before the shooting starts? After all, war appears to be all but inevitable. It is not a question of "if", but, "when". HeyYou
And now we have yet a THIRD super-carrier strike group moving to the region...... I am REAL curious what The Donald has in mind here... Is it just a show of force, or, is he planning on doing something?

Is it just a show of force, or, is he planning on doing something?Carrier Groups have the most integrated anti missile systems currently available, each having an effective perimeter of approximately 200 miles. Properly stationed they could interfere or down most any launches by NK. It's just a guess that the Japanese are a tad nervous which must pale in comparison to how the SK's feel..
