a call once again to support Vidme video links on mod pages

Youtube is supported on mod pages but Vidme is not, and i was told a while ago, "naw its not supported, maybe if people are wanting it more we'll look into it"...

linking a vid in a mod page is the no 1 way for any content creator that doesn't have a million subs to get their vid seen and their channel seen.

Im asking for any mod authors and content creators to voice themselves out loud and let the nexus know we want Vidme support.

Im releasing a mod tomorrow ( Friday) and i have to put the link with a pic so people will see it, but we know that doesn't have the same effect as a clickable vid you can check out right there on the page.

And thats my mod, on my page, it's worse with another modder where you say hey here's a link and a pic...they MAY put it on there, but we KNOW people are drawn to the youtube vid cause its right there, and 1 click watchable.

The Vidme community is growing and the Skyrim content creation base also. Please help get Vidme linbks supported on mod pages.

Thank you for reading this.

What would be the point in implementing VidMe support?

Unless it offers something Youtube doesn't, I can't imagine there being much of a purpose in supporting it. I've had a look on the site itself, and honestly it looks almost just like Youtube, only it's less popular. The vast majority of mod reviewers, especially popular ones, are on Youtube, so I'm not seeing much stacking in VidMe's favour.

Why do prefer VidMe (a site I have never heard of until now) over YouTube? How would VidMe help Mod Authors more than YouTube? Didn't you used to make YouTube videos? I see no reason why VidMe, a less popular site, would have any pull over YouTube. If you want to get your point across, you're going to need to do a lot more to persuade people on why VidMe is so important to support.

My original post in this thread was deleted. So for what if is worth, here is what I said elsewhere:

I am a new mod author. I dislike YouTube AND VidMe. Period. I find the vast majority of videos to be a complete waste of bandwidth.

It is my experience that VidMe has become a refuge for folks that have been "booted" from YouTube for violating one or more of YouTube's standards. I do not blame the powers that be on Nexus it they do not want to be associated with these folks.

You asked for peoples vote. Some people are going to vote 'NO'. Arguing with those that vote 'NO' does not help your cause in the least. It just makes you look desperate.

My vote. 'NO'.

what he said ^

why should we support it when Youtube is the site most people use?

I just read that VidMe is a self-described hybrid of YouTube and Reddit (source). And that thought makes my skin crawl. So my vote is "no".

Between that, information suggesting it's a refuge for banned Youtubers, and the general attitude that video makers in general have taken lately toward mod authors, I'm firmly in the camp opposed to supporting this.

If I thought there was any possibility of it, I'd be seriously suggesting dropping integration support for Youtube as well.

I think it is a good idea to allow for more avenues for sharing a mod author's work. For those who are not established modders, they need as much visibility as possible. If Vidme can help a modder out, than that option should be available (even if it is just a link container that can be inserted into a Mod's Description).

Youtube and Vidme can coexist as options, as well as Vimeo, DailyMotion, Veoh, Metacafe, or any new video sharing options. If there is a substantial user base using Vidme, then it makes sense to provide it as an option. If there isn't a substantial enough base, then some sort of guide for those wanting to link non-Youtube trailers for their content.

In short, my vote is "Yes"
