Yetimusics
Hey guys. I just wanted to get back to skyrim, so i installed the updated version, special edition. now that i look at the mods available i see much more mods for regular skyrim than for SE. My question is. What advantages are there in SE compared to normal? and should i get skyrim normal instead of SE if i want to mod it? I really want to get playing but i dont want to make too much progress on SE which will go to waste if i go back to normal skyrim, Thanks in advance :)
Tooneyman
Stability with some decent mods, but no SKSE, HDT or other mod which rely on them. You want SSE. For SKSE, HDT and other mods which rely on these, but tones of patches and many, many fixes. You want Skyrim 32bit.

But i actually dont miss MCM that much. I normaly use mods with default settings or change settings once at gamestart. And many SE mods have books or spells for management that works rather well. Bot ofc people who like to do changes often during playtrough will ofc miss mcm a lot.

LeddBate
To the OP: Another factor to take into account is your OS. LE is a 32bit game, Win 8 (both versions) and Win 10 cap the VRAM available for 32bit games to 4GB. This can become an issue if you have lots of texture heavy mods (especially 2k.) Win 7 is exempt from this, so you can use a lot more VRAM from your GPU with Oldrim. SE is a 64bit game, so your OS does not matter for VRAM usage. Now there's been some noise (on Reddit) that Microsoft is considering patching Win 8 and Win 10 to remove the 4GB limit for 32bit / DX9 games. However, afaik that's not confirmed yet. Boombro
Long answer, how do you mod your game? If you want that heavily scripted gameplay run, normal skyrim is better thanks to the mcm and some bigger mods. You want the most immersion and real like mod list, old skyrim is better from what I have seen. If you say, want just a simple few mods and/or simply a prettier game that runs better, new skyrim is better for you. Personally I have both for different mod setups, but let me tell you, my old skyrim doesn't have as much textures mod as newer skyrim. Just mostly gameplay stuff and core texture packs like full hd and that it.
